Finally saw one today

I got to check out the new Cherokee today as my local dealer finally got some in. They have 3 Latitudes and a Trailhawk( they had a super sharp looking black one with the OWL Firestones - loved it except for those ugly red tow hooks  ). I was really impressed.:thumbsup:

My biggest concern, as I have posted here, was interior room. I am 6' 3" and 300lbs and I was concerned that I would not fit or not be comfy in the new Cherokee. I was hoping it wouldn't be tiny and cramped like the Liberty and Wrangler. I hoped for at least the room my Patriot has and was very happy to find it had a bit more. Not a lot but some and noticeably in side to side room which my fat butt really appreciates. :D

Overall I found the quality and fit/finish to be excellent and I looked it over really good; looking for flaws. This is a well made vehicle. Where it really shines is the inside. What a fantastic job they did designing the interior. WOW! Everything made sense where it was located, it was all easy to access, and good lord was the seat comfortable.

No doubt in my mind this is now the #1 vehicle to replace my Patriot next summer/fall. As long as they don't turn out to be full of bugs and glitches I will get one next year. IF you are on the fence about the vehicle do yourself a favor and go see it in person. They look a lot better in real life than in the photos and as said that interior is world class.

One interesting note. Lots of people complain about the rear end and how it looks. The 1st Cherokee I saw when I drove in the lot was a red( maroon )one. That made that funky rear end stand out big time and I agree it looked odd. The other 3 Cherokees though were all dark colors( 2 black and a gray )and you don't notice the odd rear end shape as much on the really dark colors. I hope that dark blue hides it like the black and gray do as that is the color I would like.

You have reassured this 6'7" 275 guy a bit.

Looking forward to sitting in one soon.

They are interesting. i sat in one and drove one. it has a car like drive and will be a good vehicle for many. I opted for a Grand cherokee Overlamd. Its cabin fit me better and simce they were not a new introduction i received a great deal on it. Right now there is a additional $500 for veterans and military.

At 6' 7" you may be too tall? The windshield is really raked back and with the slope of the roof I think you will have head room issues and possibly find the headliner in your field of vision where it meets the windshield. At 6'3" I think I am about as tall as you can go and be comfy? Maybe if your height comes from your legs you will make it? I only have a regular 32" inseam but am 6' 3" as said. My height is in my torso. Maybe depending on how you were assembled you will make it.

I would prefer a GC for the room certainly. However the MPG and sticker price makes it a no go for me. If the cost and MPG of a GC were not a problem I would still have a Ram truck w/ a HEMI( I know GC gets better MPG than a Ram w/ HEMi - but it's not very good ). As it is I am gagging on the $30,360 it will cost me for the Cherokee I want but it can do what I need it to and MPG will be where I want it.

I just am not paying the kind of prices it would take to get a GC for a vehicle anymore nor am I settling for anything under 20 MPG city. Vehicle prices are just too damned high as is gas!!!!!

I definitely need to sit on one.

My first car was a 1985 Camaro... I managed to fold myself into that for 8 years.

I saw one yesterday. It should sell very well against the Escape, CRV, Subaru, RAV4, and such.

I finally got my first, in person, look at the Cherokee today. I got a chance for a quick look at a Latitude, Limited w/Sunroof, and a Trailhawk.

The Latitude has the cloth seats. The look fine, but I think I am going to have a regret in not getting the Leather Seats (nothing wrong with the cloth, the Leather just looked so cool).

The Sunroof on the Limited was very nice. Takes up a majority of the ceiling. I am going to like opening it up and getting some air when I drive. However, being 6'2" there is not a lot of clearence between my head and the roof if the shade was closed. Not super happy anout that, but I'll just have to always keep it open (the shade that is).

The Trailhawk. The Trailhawk's 1" lift, larger tires and just beefier looks really makes it stand out from the other 3 Cherokee models. The 8.4" Uconnect screen and dash panel were awesome. The interior looked fantastic. I didn't get a chance to look in the back but was very pleased with the front and rear seat arrangements.

I also didn't have enough time for a test drive, but I am really looking forward to getting my Trailhawk (come on D1, hurry up D1... No whammies! No whammies!)

If I had my choice, I would have waited and bought a Cherokee instead of the Grand Cherokee. It would have been nice to downsize a bit while still having a v6, good towing (4500 lbs), and off-road capabilities.

My 10 year old Murano needed some unexpectedly expensive repairs a few weeks before going on vacation in July. With the delay of the Cherokee, the timing just didn't work out.

I love my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited and plan on keeping it for a long time but I can't help but think that the slightly lighter v6 Cherokee with the 9 speed tansmission would be a tiny bit more fun to drive.

The "cutting edge" exterior looks much better in person than in photos. I like it.

Sat in one today. Pretty roomy. Pleasantly surprised.
