Okay, this may be a weird question and I'm 90% sure I'm overthinking this... But can anyone else with a diesel and off-road 2 package take a picture of their undercarriage and skid plates? I noticed mine has a cardboard cover looking thing where other gassers with ORA1/2 had a skid plate. This is sort of under the oil pan or front suspension and in front of the transfer case skid plate. I attached an image, although the angle isn't great. Just concerned as to why I have a cardboard cover where the non-diesels I looked at had a steel plate. There were no other diesels at my dealer to be able to compare when I took delivery.

Interesting. Now I wonder if the skid plates I ordered will fit. Looks like maybe the diesel has a different engine subframe and this is what they came up with?

That is the auto trans cover, I have been trying to find a steel replacement for my 2011 CRD if you find a part number for a steel one that would be great

I have the exact same setup. I didn't take a picture as it looks exactly like what you posted.

So I wonder why the diesels come with a cardboard (really!?) cover while all the gassers... Even the non ORA2 ones... Come with a steel plate. Is it located in a different spot on the diesel? Can't see it because... Cardboard cover.

Has anyone just asked their dealer about it? Or call Jeep customer service? Might be the easiest way to find out...

We assumed that "skid plate" meant "steel skid plate". I suppose a fiber board cover is a skid plate to Chrysler.

If I had to guess...my guess would be it's to deaden the sound...to make the Diesel engine quieter....as to why they wouldn't put a steel skid plate over the cardboard...is beyond me.

Re: ORA2 Skid Plates

To me this has to be an oversight, right?

If not, there is some serious misrepresentation by Chrysler going on...

On Jeep.com it lists Front Suspension Skid Plate, Fuel Tank Skid Plate Shield, Transfer Case Skid Plate, AND Underbody Skid Plate. Unless this cardboard material is impregnated with Kevlar, it can be considered a stone shield at best and not a SKID plate.

This needs to be addressed by Jeep with a recall where a proper skid plate is installed for owners.
