First taste of winter in Iowa City

As I ordered the 18" rim for my GC Summit to put on the winter tires, it started snowing. I put it on snow mode (even there is no snow on the road) and I noticed the eco mode is off and the car start with 2nd gear. Hopefully, the rim and wheels arriving Thursday, so I can get installed prepare for the winter.... :D

That was some intense snow! I lived in Raleigh, NC for 2 years and that would have shut schools down for 2 days.

Being living in Iowa for many years, snow is normal for us. I was in Seattle couple year back during Christmas, They shut down everything even a trace of snow.... :D

Nice. I heard about the snow in IA. My sister and parents are in Spirit Lake. We were down to 20 in KC this morning, but no snow yet. I'm ready this year -- as I swapped the Latitudes for Cooper A/T3s.

Whereas in Iowa, it is fairly rare to shut down the two interstates, and even more rare the US highways. It does happen, but it takes some serious snow.

Gotta love those days where you start out with the top down cruising up above Des Moines, and then a couple flakes appear. And less than 4 hours later, the IHP has closed both interstates and highway 30 and you are following a semi to use its ruts to deal with the snow.
