Tow package for 2014 SRT

Has anyone installed a tow package on the SRT? Any recommendations on where to buy the parts?

Scott, do you happen to know if the wiring harness for the SRT is plug and play like the other models? In Aus the towbars are fitted by the dealer but I have read of a few dealers here splicing into the wiring loom rather than using the PnP method. My towbar gets fitted Tues (Mon your time) and would rather they don't splice it.

You know what my friend....I don't know. I assumed they were PnP.

I've been told they use a Hayman Reece towbar, my main concern apart from the wiring is them not fitting an SRT cover

My SRT has the factory towbar, it is not haymen Reece, it is a Mopar product. Hope that helps.

Had my towbar fitted, it is best bars from NZ, takes the whole day to fit as the rear bumper, whole rear interior, even subwoofer has to be removed. The towbar slides into the chassis and the wiring loom has to be plugged in inside the car. it is a really neat job and the rear cover is refitted and the hitch comes in its own bag which fits beside the spare wheel

Hi,

I am a brand new member from Sydney Australia. I just last week fitted the towbar to my 14 SRT. I ended up doing the whole thing myself including wiring and had to learn it all the hard way. If I can help anyone (but I'm no expert), please let me know.

Thanks Scott. I am a huge believer in forum communities and the sharing of information. I do a lot of work on Motorbikes and have gained so much from the forums over the years.

It was a nightmare !!!! I had to cut the flares off my brand new car without damage just to get the bumper bar off. I then had to pull out half the interior out to get to the wiring. I even had to unbolt the amp and drill a 18mm hole through two layers of steel (I repeat.... in my brand new car !!!) I then found that they don't do a connection plug for the 2014's and had to find the correct wires in the harness to splice and solder into.

Oh..... and then get it all back together again !

The job turned out well in the end and I learnt a lot but I so wish I just handed it over to Jeep to do it. Having learnt to do it the hard way, it would be a breeze if I had to do it again..... but that aint gonna happen !
