MPG Thread and Cost of the diesel in your area.

Is it too early to start requesting the MPG people are getting based on City/Highway?

I average 25 mpg and diesel hovers around 3.99 to 4.09 here on Eastern Long Island.

In regards to the price of diesel, there is a few Apps that will give you the location and price of diesel.

Which app is the best? I am looking to see if my area offers good coverage. I have been keeping an eye out on my way to work.

Gas Buddy for sure.

3.89 is what I paid yesterday in the Boston area.

My Jeep came with an App that shows diesel pricing in the area :)

I'm averaging 27 at the moment, lots of city driving. Diesel is $4.00 - $4.60 in my area currently.

Other than U-Connect, a good guide to nationwide pricing guide can be found at the Pilot/Flying J site.

A little disappointed with my initial mileage... But I know it's still early. I have just over 300 miles and am averaging 20-21. The first 150 were interstate (75-80) on the way back from the dealer and I was doing about 24. Since then it's been short city trips, mostly with a colder engine (cold morning temps with a 2-3 mile commute). I know those all work against me on this. I have been driving with a soft foot and in Eco mode. I did hit up sport mode for a bit to try it out (I like it, but will stick with Eco mode for the majority of my driving, at least with daily commuting).

Diesel in my area is around 3.65 currently.

It would be great if some folks would start to use www.fuelly.com to track their mileage. There are apps to use this on smartphones as well. I have been using fuelly for a couple of years now, and it is a very easy way to log mileage. Plus it shows averages for all vehicles being logged with a certain engine.

It may be the winter blend fuel in your area. That can reduce the mileage, try refilling from a different station. Diesels are very sensitive to fuel quality as far as mileage is concerned.
