Memory Seat not working

Hi,
Does anyone have any idea why my memory seat will not work, it is programmed on no. 1 and the mirrors, seat back, seat height and radio will change but it will not move back or forward when the remote or button on the door is pressed (it will move with the switch on the seat though)

Many thanks

Hmm, sounds like it might be trouble with the memory seat module?

Do a key dance and read the codes that come up (if any) - key in ignition (off-on-off-on-off-on quickly) and wait for DTC codes to show up on the evic display.

also, does it ignore easy entry/exit setting?

I have just tried the easy entry/exit and the seat will go back when you open the door but it will not return when I unlock the car, instead it goes back some more everytime I press the unlock on the remote.

Also at the moment I can't get the 'key dance' to work so I can't see if there are any codes (how long do you leave the ign. on for before the codes appear?)

Thanks

Re: Memory Seat not working

Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes, then reconnect it.

Seems like that resets a lot of the bugged electronics for the WK.

If the seat is within 2 inches (iirc)of the front or rear stop, it won't move automatically.

Try this out,

Turn the key to the ACC position, Move the seat rearward with seat switch all the way to the rear stop, immediately move the seat forward to the front stop. Turn off the ACC, pull the key, The seat may move backward at that point, if not lock the doors, unlock and see if that clears the problem.

Tried turning the key to acc position etc. the seat will not move smoothly back to front i.e. it will move so far then stop then I release the switch and try again and it will move again and stop, it will do this about 4 times from back to front and other way as well. when I removed the key the seat did go back a bit!!

Move whatever is behind your drivers seat, then move your seat all the way forward, then back, then foward then back. it should be reset.

Happened to me last summer and nobody could figure out the problem. Jeep contacted the engineers and thats what I was told to do. It worked for me.

If your seat is set to easy entry and there is something behind the seat it will tell the computer to stop pushing the seat back automatically. even if you have moved whatever was blocking the seat.

Hope that helps. it worked for me!

Have you had any broken windows (glass bits everywhere?) in your Jeep or anything in the path that might be causing it to bind up?
