Was thinking about getting a 2014, but my 2011 Summit has no problems...and low miles too. The changes from the 2011 to the 2014 don't seem that much. My 2011 has no issues and runs great. So why get a newer one?

I from an 11 Overland to a 14 Summit and so far I am extremely happy with my decision. My circumstances were similar in that I had low miles and thought the same on changes from 11 to 14. I did however have some electrical issues with 1 month left in factory warranty that was the deciding factor in my purchase.

First, the new 8speed tranny is night a day better with the V8 then the old 5 speed. Shifting is super smooth and overall the SUV feels much more responsive. Second, the new 8.4" touch screen is extremely nice. I know that many early 14 users had issues with the uconnect system but so far with a 14.5 build and the latest update I have not had any of the issues. Third, the updated body styling with the new headlights looks awesome IMO. I know it is completely subjective, but I personally love the styling updates.

Going from the 11 to the 14 was no where near as dramatic as going from my 01 to the 11, however the changes are more then enough for me to really enjoy the new ride.

Well, I've got an '11 Laredo X and I bought the wife a '14 Limited. I would not take the whipping that it would take to trade my '11 in for a '14. Oh, it would be nice to have the 8 speed tranny but I actually don't care for the electronic shifter in the '14. The difference in gas mileage between the two is only about 1 to 1.5 mpg. I like the larger 8.4AN screen but then again, I've got the 430N and it does just fine. They both seem to drive and handle the same. I just couldn't see trading unless there is something in the new ones that you just HAVE to have or you've got plenty of money and just want to say you are driving a '14. I'll never fault a man for buying a new car.

Hell, if you're happy stick with what you got, keep it. I hear of a lot of guys trading in '12 or '13's for the new 14's because of the 8-sp tranny and the new lights/grill but I doubt it makes that much of a difference to justify changing over. Who knows, when the 15's come out you may just be glad you waited.

Keep it. The 2 main reasons would be the tranny, and 8.4 screen. The rest are minor cosmetic changes, and the casual observer wouldn't know the difference. You would lose the rear gate flipper glass. That's a negative. You'd also start over in payments.

I did test drive a V8 with the new 8-speed transmission. It was a limited test drive so didn't really notice much difference...which surprised me.

Guess I'll keep the 2011 as I have the 7/70,000 maxcare...oh, and the rear gate flipper glass........it's all 'bout that flipper glass!!!

+1 to Dan's experience, my '11 looks like a keeper.

Congrats Mash, didn't see you stepped up previously.

Glad to see the '14 bugs are worked out with minor flash updates. Thumbsup.

Between me and you, besides the '14 SRT, I like the 2011 front ends better. The headlights and grill look meaner and says "get the f*** outta the way".

I too have an '11 and seriously considered upgrading, but we're going to stay put in the '11. The only real reason to upgrade is the new infotainment system which is a huge improvement and the 8 speed, as well as resetting the warranty.

I too overall prefer the appearance of the 11-13. The 14 has grown on me though.

This was me too. At first I thought the '14 looked like a cartoon, but now I've came to terms. It's pretty good looking.

I completely agree with you. At times I wish I bought a 2013 instead while they were still available, but the 2014 does have some nice upgrades.
