Heated Seats

Hello.

I have a 2005 WK CRD. Both heated seats have stopped working and the leds on the heated seat buttons do not illuminate. The same has happened to the traction control button in the same row - its led does not illuminate. However the parking sensor button in the same row does illuminate.

The fuse diagram in the manual is not clear to me regarding which fuse relates to the heated seats. There is a fuse called "Acc Delay/Seats" at no.8 in the "underhood fuses" box. It is a 40Amp green fuse. Not sure if that might be it, and whether that would also affect the traction control button.

Any ideas?

thanks

Re: Heated Seats

I disconnected the battery, then reconnected it a few minutes later. The led on the heater switch illuminated. I then turned off the engine. When I restarted it, the led did not illuminate.

So now I am thinking this is not a fuse issue otherwise the led would not have illuminated. But the fact that the led on the traction control button now also does not work rather suggests the problem is not limited to the heated seats.

I read somewhere that it could be the heated seat module not learning. I had a new battery put in a few months ago and i am wondering if that has somehow caused the heated seat module to act funny.

Anyway coincidentally I received this morning a vehicle safety recall letter from Jeep - entitled Final Drive Controller Module Reprogram. The letter talks about the FDCM causing the transmission to shift to neutral without input from the driver. Seems nothing to do with my current problem but the car will be going to the dealer anyway so might as well check the seat problem while I am there.

I dont have wiring diagrams at home (where I am currently) but I know chrysler uses alot of relays internal to the power distribution center to power things with key on power. I have seen a number of these relays fail. Your intermittant failure with one noted failure happening after a key cycle (the relay opened and closed while starting). I could be completely on the wrong track, If I have some time at work tomorrow Ill check out diagrams.
