Insert Poi in Uconnect 8.4 2014

Hello Guys,
after the presentation I ask you a question that I can not solve.
Should I put the POIs on the navigator of my Gc 2014.
I've done all the steps that I've read around the various forums in the world, but my system does not read the usb stick.
I also tried to put the file on disk, but to no avail. Do not read either of them. How to do?
Some of you did on this new?
Thank you.
Mauro

I'm not sure how to do it. But now that you read everything on the various forums, did you try the owner's manual?

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I looked at all the manuals.
I also downloaded the Americans, since in Italy we still give the user the old model!! :(:(:(
Then I wanted to put the speed camera, but do not load on new Uconnect.

You got me curious, so I've been doing some reading. Sorry to say, I don't think you can add custom POIs to uConnect. It seems you have to use either the built in data base, or an app like Yelp if it is working within the uConnect system.

I don't need that feature, but hopefully somebody will prove me wrong and post a way to do what you want.

I've read other discussions about entering POIs on the '14 GC nav. No one has been able to do this so far. The only work around I've been able to find is to just enter individual POIs as favorites. The Uconnect nav is a pretty closed system, with everything being proprietary. Even the yelp feature isn't as inclusive as I would like.

Simple answer, you cant do it. The navigation software is not the same as what would come in a unit that anyone can add to their car (which most allow this)

maybe a future update?

In Italy the app function is not enabled. In the old model, because the browser is Garmin, you could do with this procedure:

Custom POI's for Uconnect Using Thumb Drive
I'm not 100% sure if this "how-to" has been posted before, but since I just came back to the US a few weeks ago, I figured I'd post it up fresh for those of us with the UConnect system that want to add points of interest.

The background story: I got tired of entering actual coordinates to places in the woods that I either visit frequently (backwoods fishing holes, campsites, Geocaches, old logging roads, boat ramps along the coast or lakes), or places I would like to see at some point, so I did a little research on the subject.

I figured I SHOULD be able to sync up the points in Base Camp, my handheld Garmin and my wife's Nuvi to the UConnect in the Rubicon. What I found was that the Garmin in the UConnect is typical Garmin interface and makes you work for what you want to do to it. A lot of trial and error, and almost a 6 pack went into this process tonight, but here's how you can add custom POI's (points of interest) to the Garmin system in your Jeep.

First, download and install Garmin Base Camp, and Garmin POI Loader. You can find these on a Google search, or on the Garmin site itself. Also, just for good measure, and so you can find it in a few minutes, make a new folder on the desktop called "Garmin POI's" (You can change the name or location of it later on).

Open Base Camp. Move the map to your area of the world, and click "File" then "New" and select "List" You should now see a "New List" under the "My Collection" folder in the left hand top window. What you do now, and what you select is up to you. Mouse over a point using the hand or arrow tool and right click on an area to select a point on the map, anywhere you might want to go, or just something simple just so you can get the feel of the process. Select "New Waypoint" and you will see the name of the point you selected in the bottom box on the left hand of the screen.

Now, once you've added your waypoints to your list, click "File", then "Export". Export this file to the "Garmin POI's" folder you just created on the desktop and click "Save".

Now, here's where it gets tricky. You HAVE to use a USB thumb drive. Insert it into your computer now.

Create a folder on your thumb drive titled "Garmin" (no quotation marks, and case sensitive....VERY IMPORTANT). Open this folder and make a sub folder titled "POI" (again, no quotation marks and case sensitive).

Now open Garmin POI Loader and click "Next". It will ask you where you would like to save your custom POI's, so select "Computer", and click "Next". Make sure on the next screen you select your USB thumb drive as the device (mine is "G", yours might be different), (G:\Garmin\POI) and click "Next".

Now, make sure the folder where you exported your files from Base Camp is selected in the top box (the folder you created on the desktop). This next step is VERY important! In the next box, name the file "Poi", (No quotation marks, and case sensitive). If you do not do this, the system will not be able to read the file when you try to upload it.

Select your units of measure and click "Next" when you're ready. You should now have a "Congratulations! You have successfully installed XX custom POI's on your device", then click "Finish".

Now, open up your thumb drive and you should see a folder entitled "Garmin". Click on it, and you should now see a folder entitled "POI". Open that one and now you should see a single file - "Poi.gpi". Make sure that that the folders and file names are EXACTLY what you just read here, otherwise the Uconnect will not be able to read the files.

Go out to your Jeep and turn on the ignition, wait for the radio to boot up and put the thumb drive in the USB slot on the radio. It should read for a few moments then say: "A new custom POI has been found. Do you wish to install update?" Click "Yes", then a warning appears: "Installing update will erase all existing custom POI's on your system. Do you wish to continue?" Click "Yes" and wait for the update to install.

Now, to see your new waypoints, go to the nav system home screen, choose "Where To?", click "Extras", "Custom POI" and select where you want to go.

It's an involved process to start out, but once your familiar, it becomes a breeze, and shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Once you start playing with Base Camp and learn more about it, you can start typing in your own coordinates, and upload them to the GPS in the Jeep.

The system will function in Europe on Fiat Freemont, Fiat 500, Chrysler 300, Dodge. With all the old models uconnect.
I have not tried to insert an SD then, only with disc or USB.
Today I feel.

The 2014 Navigation is supposed to be Harmon, not Garmin. Did you actually get this to work on a '14?

Harmon is who makes the head unit... I believe it is garmin that makes the nav software, but its a special version for the uconnect.

In fact, if you see the photo navigation is Garmin. Only that you are unable to add speed cameras. In the menu asks you to activate the camera alert, but then there are no warnings. As in Europe lacks the function app!

This, however, is my version of Uconnect ..

Cool,

a very good instruction.

But tell me now, where did you find the button EXTRAS in the Navigation.

That button doesn't exist.

I tried it in very much different ways unfortunately I had no chance!
