8.4 an - nave settings - fastest?

I was making a short trip - using the nav - and it had me turn off a main road to cut through a back road. Which i can only assume was the shortest route.

Why cant i find any settings for shortest route / fastest route? Every vehicle I have ever owned with Nav has this... ??? am i missing it?

Thanks!

Touch options before starting route. Or go into settings, it's there too.

wait, you have to change it each time you want to navigate somewhere??
So, i have to put in an address, wait for it to locate it.. change the settings.. then pick yes??

Once I set mine to fastest it stayed there.

I have not found it either. I did find settings I think for alternate traffic routes but not for normal routes.

I also find it behaves like shortest than fastest.

Just checked.

"Traffic can help drivers pick the fastest route based on traffic conditions."
That has nothing to do with it's basic routing priorities and will only kick in if it sees "Traffic". And probably use even more "back roads" to get around traffic.
That will probably do the opposite. Where some of us would prefer take the major roads that will sometimes be longer distance, but less time and fuss.
Why this posted in "Black" text, I have no idea :)
Guess I need to read Jeepgarage manual too.

it is in fact as Jacko says (and the manual)... pick a location - before you hit YES, hit options. Kind of odd that its there but.. ok

Yes, what he said was in the manual was for XM Traffic behavior.

Try it both ways and I bet it gives the same route (unless there is traffic)

Once I let xm expire, that option won't exist.

Maybe the options at the time you change locations is different.

The only thing in the manual was xm traffic. Which is nearly useless.

When set to fastest it takes me on roads that give me the best time. When set on shortest it takes me "as the crow flies". These settings are not related to the Sirius/XM Traffic feature, although if that is enabled, it will affect your routing. Here's a picture.

no, traffic is different. This option ONLY shows up when route is set, but BEFORE you hit yes. its... odd
