Hello All,
I have a 2014 Jeep Gran Cherokee Overland v6, i purchased it in June 2013 it has a build date of may 2013. I have had a few good months with it until this past october, the navigations started acting slow, then starting showing gray where the upper toolbar which states time or heated seats indicators would be, as well as the lower tool bars which access climate control, navigation, phone, Radio and Device. The navigation screen has gone blank daily to a black screen, sometimes sound will come out, sometimes its silent, the heated seats will stay on high and i have had two long drives one to DC and NYC over 2.5 hours where i had to stop multiple times just to get a brake from the heat as i could not shut off the heated seats and there was no regulation to stop the heat. I have had issues where the navigation will show a map but no tool bars and the map will be from some wrong road that i am not even near. Lately the screen will show normal screen however i cannot change anything other than the radio, climate control will lock up, navigation will show black, device and seat settings will not change.

I have had two navigation system installed and they have not corrected the issues, i have had 3 software upgrades including the ABS/Alternator ground wire recall done on the car and still not getting better.

I had issues where the key fob would be in the car however the car would beep for 20 mins saying key fob not located. I took pictures of this with the key fob next to it to prove it was in the car.

I had am issue where the crash avoidance failed when a car cut into my lane and i had the advanced tech package on my jeep which should decelerate the speed based on the auto in front of you, however it didn't and the crash avoidance didn't flare to say brake as the car in front of me braked. But on many occasions on a totally empty road my car will scream brake for no reason and start to apply on the brakes, which could cause an accident.

I had an issue while driving 70-80mph on the turnpike while the navigation was black and not working the air suspension decided to start lowering all the way to parking/exit mode for no reason, and then the lowering persisted for 30 mins in the top while i drove, i took the car to the dealer immediately as they said they hoped to pull fault codes for the suspension and navigation issue, however it did not throw any faults. I did however capture the events all in my phone for my lawyer as my car has been in the shop 7 times over the last month for navigation, electrical, suspension and other issues. I am currently pursuing a lemon law lawsuit claim against chrysler to buy this POS back immediately as it is not safe to drive. If anyone hears of any class actions going on about the 14 Grand Cherokee please let me know as this car has put myself in danger as well as my passengers at many instances.

Investigate your rights under your state's lemon laws and exercise them. I went through this process a few years ago with Chrysler and tried to be nice and reasonable. What I got back in return was what I later realized was intentional delays, stalling and subversion. Ultimately they did the right thing but in retrospect I should've just lemon lawed it. My car had different issues than yours but the main one was electrical related and affected the safety of the car.

Not good. I assume you've been working closely with your dealer and have taken the first steps of getting a case open with jeep to document all these issues? That and a understanding of lemon law for your state should help paint a pretty good picture of where you stand getting it fixed or bought back.

wow! this could prove difficult to diagnose. it has been my experience that these seemingly unrelated concerns are usually caused by poor grounding, bus communication issues or software. good luck.

If your willing to take $1000.00 to be part of a Class Action, go for it.

The only people that get anything out of class actions is the Lawyers.

Sounds like you indeed have a lemon.

With you not using your real name and photo, we have no idea if your post is real, or something put up by an employee or fan of a competing car maker. If your post is real, why would you be hiding your identity?

Indeed, if it is real, then you need a "lemon law" attorney. There are many of them, and as with hiring any professional, you will need to try to determine which one will give you the appropriate quality legal services, have good prices, and be someone you can work with.

The seat heat in my 2014 Overland did come on once when I had not set it to do so. The navigation also got lost once, despite a clear view of the sky for obtaining the GPS signals. Overall, the entire navigation system is far, far too slow, and insult to those of us who wrote big checks to buy these vehicles. Even though we paid a pile, I'm sure all of us would have gladly paid a few hundred dollars more to have a fast, state of the art navigation system, and some other missing things such as 10-way,not 8-way, seats.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland has had similar problems. The car has the latest firmware and software upgrades. Yesterday and today the analog speedometer blacked several times. Only restarting the Jeep three times restored the speedometer display. UConnect sometimes freezes and sometimes changes volume settings for speed guidance. The electronics for EVIC (dashboard) and UConnect are buggy, unreliable, and unacceptable.

Loss of the speedometer display is a major safety failing. The false alerts of the forward collision warning are a major safety failing.

I too am thinking of using my state's lemon law to force Chrysler to take the Jeep back and refund my money. I neither recommend nor would get a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Caveat emptor!

Next time your analog speedometer goes out, in the interest of safety, try switching to digital. A few folks reported that the digital still worked.


Has your vehicle been in for the recall - the one that is supposed to fix the speedometer, and other issues?

1. The digital speedometer does display properly.

2. My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland has received all the upgrades and recalls as of December 7, 2013 and the electronics are still buggy. Despite the upgrades, some of the same bugs that the upgrades were to supposed to kill are present.

3. Perhaps the hardware as well as the software are both to blame.

4. The dealer offered to replace the UConnect radio. My understanding is that Chrysler would deliver a refurbished unit, not a new unit. That is unacceptable to me.

5. UConnect and EVIC certainly do not have mature software.

6. UConnect is truly UDisConnect. EVIC is EVIL.

sometimes you can't help people who don't want to be helped. Ours has been in 3 times for an oil leak, but i'm not giving up. while it is an inconvenience, at the end of the day it will get fixed, and they will pay for it, but it's not the end of the world. Life's too short to worry about whether its a new unit or refurbished. I bet you wouldn't even know the difference if they didn't tell you.

You are certainly right that the shortcomings of the Jeep and the inconvenience of bringing the car to the dealer are "not the end of the world."

On the other hand, for US$50,000, you'd expect that you're getting a trouble-free purchase. My own clients expect and get that assurance. I do not have the comfort that "...at the end of the day, it will get fixed."

If Chrysler has updated the radio itself, why should I accept the earlier model, if it is an inherently flawed device?

I've had many cars and trucks, from USA, Asian, and European manufacturers, personally and through my business. Afterward 8,000 miles (13,000 km) and seven months my Jeep does seem properly screwed together except for EVIC and UConnect.

Life is too short to put with crap.

Your right, you dont have to put up with crap, but give them a chance to fix it. Some things are not as easy as a simple swap out. What if they replace the uconnect with a new one, and it has the same problem. Do you spit the dummie, and demand a new car? It may be as simple as high resistance in 1 wire, but they follow set procedures, and replace this, then that, and work toward getting the problem resolved. I cant remember the last time I bought a new car and it was perfect. Btw, I would have thought the $75k+ overland (yes thats how much they are in AU) wouldnt have an oil leak, but it does, and ill work with the service guys to get it fixed. You being in business should know better than everyone else, that nobody likes a irrate customer, let alone one thats padantic, and anal. It does the whole situation more harm than good.
