FDCM (Final Drive Control Module) Replacement after N23 Recall !!!

Hi Guys

I'm from the UK and have recently had the N23 recall performed and low and behold i no longer have 4Low. After reading pages and pages from various forums about the issues and costs people are facing at their dealerships i have decide to buy a replacement FDCM from a pre-recall wrecked vehicle. My question is, can i simply plug the replacement in or will i need to get the module coded to the vehicle ?

Hi Guys,

Also from the U.K. with the same fault as Overland describes above, I clicked on the link posted by jeeper_57, the link doesn't work for me?

Overland (Neil) did you have any luck with sorting out this issue?

Re: FDCM (Final Drive Control Module) Replacement after N23 Recall !!!

Just joined forum to see if anyone is having FDCM recall problems and it would appear to be a common fault. I have just had my vehicle returned from the Jeep dealership for the 3rd occasion to find out why I am having a fault whereby I can no longer get 4x4low (never had any problems prior to recall work). Had both Dealership and Jeep UK involved but have finally come back claiming it is an actuator with an historical fault surprise surprise that is causing problem which is nothing to do with recall reprogramming requiring 650 approx to be replaced!!!. Obviously, I am not alone in having this problem and my argument is that I didn't have this problem prior to the recall and if the part is faulty then it must have faulty from new as no reprogramming has taken place before the recall or the software is at fault. Has anyone pursued the issue through legal channels i.e. Trading Standards, Solicitors, or referred it to any consumer tv programs?

On the "other" forum we have quite a few people swapping in FDCM's from the junkyard and all issues going away. Make sure the donor FDCM comes from a jeep basically identical to yours. (Year, model,TC, etc.) It should just plug right in and be good to go. Havn't seen or heard of anyone needeing to do anything else after the swap.

I'm in New Zealand, was just going to ask if anyone had also had this issue. Then found this. What a load of crap! My GC is a 2007, never had any issues with trans etc, get a letter in the post saying that there is a recall regarding FDCM, take it in for the update and you guessed it, no low range.
Clearly this isnt an isolated issue.

No need to swap because jeep made new software. My dealer flash it last wednsday and no problem until now
