55w HID question
Hello, I figured there would be a thread on here with the question but I cannot seem to find it so I will post it. I have my stock halogen headlamps and my stock fog light housings with a relay ran for the low beams. If I wanted to run 55w HIDs (around 4500-5000k) will I run into any problems with overheating and melting my housings for my fogs or headlamps?

Re: 55w HID question
i just put 6000k in top and bottom. It seems like my fogs do more blinding to people rather than my headlights. It could be that i have a 05-07 style bumper. You may have to adjust them to beam lower like Im planing to do while I wait on doing my srt conversion. Tons of light by the way.

55 watt right? And yeah I have the 05 bumper aswell. I've heard of some running a relay for the fogs and another relay for the lows.

Re: 55w HID question
both of my kits are 55W. i didnt need a relay for my fogs to work with the HIDs. i have a 2005 if that helps.

Re: 55w HID question
before i forget. if the hids dont work after hooking them up reverse the polarity where they plug in. that had me confused for 20 mins until i tried it.

Re: 55w HID question
you will be fine with the 55w. For the fogs you wont need a relay. For the lows, its a must for the WK. I used to run the 55w fog and low and it lit up the street.

Re: 55w HID question
I've never seen the 55w in person installed. Are they too unbearable for other drivers? Because I had my 35w set right and I never blinded or got flashed by anyone. Thanks guys

Re: 55w HID question
could be a bit rough since you are lifted, i would try to aim it as best as possible but you will still get flashed. I got flashed from time to time. There's a noticeable difference between the light output of 55w vs a 35w.

Re: 55w HID question
Yeah that's one of the things I'm really worried about. I had to turn my 35 watt pretty much all the way down so I didn't blind them

I know it's an old thread but here's a pic (just in case someone does a search on this) of the Kensun 55w hids in my fog lights that I installed last night. They're sooooooo much brighter than my 55w halogens lol. I've only had them in for a short while so I can't speak to any flashing issues from other drivers yet but after a night of driving around, no one has flashed me yet including the 3 or so cops I passed haha

Holy **** those are bright! Now you just need to upgrade those headlights!
