Won't start after changing Turn bulb

First post,

I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee

I went to change the driver's side front turn signal bulb. First removed the grill with the plastic rivets. I unbolted the screw holding the headlamp assembly, made room for my hand to get into the right place.

I did not disconnect the battery before disconnecting the bulb -__-

I took the bulb out, and then replaced a new one back into the slot, reassembled.

When I went to start it, the vehicle started, but then turned itself off after 2-3 seconds. I did this a few more times. The dash was showing "Transmission Over Temp" and "Service Due" as well as a flashing solid red light. I'm not sure if these are relevant.

I decided to pull the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer, and reattached it. Now the starter doesn't even turn over.

There's power throughout the vehicle, I can get air, windows, radio, dash lights, head lights to power, but not the engine.

Probably should have taken it to someone before I messed it up, I'm not a technician :(

Any suggestions on where to look, or how to get this going again would be greatly appreciated.

Someone from another forum suggested:

sounds like a weak battery.

get it LOAD tested at a reputable place if a jump will get it started/

when battery gets low all sorts of wierd **** happen.

probably just coincidental with bulb swap/ unless the headlights were ON when you changed the bulb.
if the headlights were off via the switch no power to the lamp socket so should be ok BUT NEXT TIME dosconnect the neg. when i had my wk I wore out the neg terminal and had to replace it from all the times I unhooked it.
I used a battery jumper to try and get the vehicle going, but there was no starter click or crank, might have been low power on that, so I'm charging now.

Any suggestions?

Hey guys - you may want to check your neutral safety switch on the side of your tranny near the linkage. The switch is a several position sensor and detects the trans in neutral or drive etc and if the sensor is not exactly positioned in park or neutral then it will not even click , but you will get power to everything else. Hope that helps.
