Granite vs Billet Silver | Black vs Indigo

Hey guys,

Close to making a deal. My 2 questions:

Exterior:

Does the Granite exterior get dirty pretty quickly? Surely not as quick as Black, but I'm coming from a white car so I'm expecting the worst. It's between the Granite and Billet Silver for me, but I'm worried the Silver looks dull over time.

Interior:

How has Indigo been holding up for people as far as scuffs/cleanliness? I'd like to go black but might be able to swing a good deal on Indigo.

Thanks for all opinions!

I just took delivery of my granite crystal Cherokee, and I can assure you it shows all the salt on the roads here in New Hampshire. I had silver cars for decades and I always thought they were the most practical as far as hiding road grime. But after 20 years of silver, I wanted to make a change. The granite crystal looks absolutely stunning when it's clean I think the darker color shows off the lines better than silver. But if looking clean after moderate exposure to dirt is your priority I recommend silver. And after all there's really no wrong answer! They both look great and you'll love it either way.

Thanks for the opinion. I live in Los Angeles so no road salt and mostly city driving. There's a lot of crap in the air though so dust will show on darker colors.

I like the Silver but I'm planning on keeping this thing for as long as it will run, and don't want the color to dull like most other silver cars I see on the road.

That makes sense. On the other hand I find silver does not show swirl marks nearly as badly as to dark colors do over time. I would think if you keep it clean and apply high quality wax occasionally the silver would continue to look fine My wife has silver Honda CRV that looks fine after 10 years.

I vote Silver/Black.

Silver is the only color I buy... It doesn't show the dirt....

My previous vehicle ( not a Jeep) was granite silver & the wife's car was black. Now we both have silver, if that says anything. I love keeping our vehicles clean & hand wash as often as the weather permits, and the lighter color sure is easier to keep up. Either way you go, get what makes you happy.

I love my billet silver, I think if you tint the windows it really pops and much easier to keep clean...especially with the unpredictable New England weather

I don't think you can go wrong either way. I went with the Granite and black interior and I have no complaints! The silver would be easier to keep clean, I'm happy with the Granite and it looks really good when it is clean:thumbsup: Good luck!

I have the Granite, and yes it shows dirt very quickly, almost as much as black does.
I wanted the Silver for this very reason, but it is the misses car, show she went granite.

Silver is the best for dirt by far.

Here are some pics of my Granite, which is mildly dirty.
See the pics are pretty representative of how it looks from a distance

Then compare the first pic to this one after being washed.

Not a massive difference, but as it gets dirtier it looks really crap. Most notably when it rains a little and there is a lot of wet dirt being thrown up.
As you live in LA, I need to explain to you what rain is, so it won't be much of a factor for you.

Haha! Actually we probably get just enough rain for it to look like crap. At least in other parts of the country where it's constantly raining, there's probably less dust for making an ugly mix.

Thanks for the photos, it looks great!

you already know that dark colors show dirt, swirls & scratches faster and easier but they look much better when clean & detailed (polished, waxed.. whatever)
so it's up to you only.. if you like the look of the granite and don't mind spending more time and money to keep it clean and scratch free, go get it... otherwise get the silver..

one more thing about the granite, probably you'll have to live with the paint issue (splotchy, cloudy f***ed up paint job) that shows in low light or over cast days  donno if all granite paint still have this issue but it's really annoying (at least to me) and now I wish I got the black or blue color instead
