2012 overland wheel paint color HELP!
3 Attachment(s)
I recently hit a curb very badly! I have since sanded out the bad parts and filled in the gouges with some bondo. I am having some trouble with the paint matching. I have heard that the wheel is satin carbon pearl (dd5-w). But I have also heard there is another paint color out there and it is tech silver metallic (gsa-w). I have not been able to see color chips of these and donít know what one I have. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Base of black, followed by satin carbon, followed by clear coat. It might take some kind of special procedure that the guy that fixed mine didn't share.

Re: 2012 overland wheel paint
The bottom picture is of some of the original damage. The top two pictures are from after I hit it with the sanding cookie. The cookie did a great job of getting it very smooth and the gouges out. I don’t have any pictures up of after that step but I did apply a bondo over that to fill in a few little hair lines that would pop with the paint. My buddy is going to pick the paint up today and then shoot it in his booth tomorrow or the following day. I will keep you guys updated.

Those wheels look like they're hyper silver.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I bought the satin carbon paint but it didn't match. Finally caved and took it to a shop. They said it was hyper silver and nailed the match. Can't tell the wheel was ever damaged.

O boy; well I just got back from the paint store and he said he could only price me out after all the paint and tints were mixed and I got the bill for $187.45 (reducer, hardener, paint ect) not a happy camper!! so I really hope this works the first time out.

Double Ouch! Ouch on the scrape and then another ouch from the paint shop. I sure hope it turns out a perfect match so you don't have to do this again.

Re: 2012 overland wheel paint
You and me both, I told the guy I could buy a new wheel for that kind of money! ( well a new knock off or used one) but that just seems very high for a not so 100% guarantee. o well such is life I guess

Re: 2012 overland wheel paint
You can buy a brand new OEM wheel for a little more than that. My wheel was repaired and painted for $100. The Jeep brochure says they're Satin Carbon and I stressed to the repair guy to use that color. If he used hyper tech silver he didn't mention it. They should mix it to match regardless.

Yea, 95 bucks to do guy called it hyper black or silver I don't remember, he said it was an easy match, but as stated, black as base, grey/silver/carbon whatever over top...he matched perfect. Look up a wheel repair guy, depending on where you are at, there may be an "All Alloy Repair" guy near you like me. He goes around to dealerships etc and does nothing but paint, repair, straighten wheels...they'll have the right color.
