passive entry issues

Hi guys... 2014 grand Cherokee summit.. noticing recently that when car is wet, passive entry doesn't work. Button doesn't unlock either. Last night, dry, neither worked again... thought I was on to something with wet conditions.. not that it should matter. Key fob opens.car without issue.

Another oddity. Wash car with key fob in.pocket. lights go on.and off.. thought it was odd but what it's doing is.unlocking and locking vehicle.. took me six months to realize that oddity...

Anyone have same issues or care to try next hand wash?

Another day, another crazy issue....

The lights flashing while washing is common many cars with key less entry and go systems. The water running over the handle is like someone grabbing the handle in theory. Mine does it, mentioned here in other threads and common question in the BMW world as well.

With regards to the other issue, was the key fob anywhere near your cell phone? Same pocket, same hand? Phones tend to interfere with the remote when they are very close to one another. This is generally eliminated by keeping the phone in a separate pocket or separate hand. Had the issue with my Acura, drove me up a wall until I realized what was going on, several others on here have reported the same issue and when they kept the phone separate everything worked as expected. Hopefully its the same for you.

Turbo thanks for your reply..I'll test without cell phone near fob. May have been in same pocket. Agree regarding water also

I have also noticed this beginning to happen with my 2014 JGC Summit. The fob remains in my pocket at all times, and is never near my mobile. Unlocking the vehicle by grabbing the handle has never been an issue, but in the past 3 weeks or so, whenever I try to lock the vehicle by pressing lock button, it does not respond. I must press it repeatedly until it finally locks. I tried passenger door and same thing. I tried my spare fob and same result. I assume the battery is fine, as the range on them for remote start is amazing.

I cannot figure this one out???

Bingo... exactly same with me. Just in past few weeks... isn't the range amazing on it though? I have it to about 700 feet...

I'm thinking something over the air update wise maybe happened?? I just updated UConnect to latest and greatest to take advantage of the apps (Finally!!), but this key fob symptom began before that update...and yes, the range is amazing - no complaints there :)
