03 Limited High Output replacement muffler

Hey all, been a while since i posted. My family also has a WJ with a HO engine in it. She unfortunately is always outside and i think all these years of hot and cold weather is starting to take its toll on hoses and other various items. I suppose its bound to happen.

Most importantly, the muffler on the 03 is starting to rust through and split at the seams. Its gotta go and I would like to do this soon. I want to get a Walker QuietFlow SS as a good (quiet) replacement but my concern is their site saying that it excludes HO vehicles. The walker 21640 is the latest replacement. I included a link to walkers fitment guide.

Walker Exhaust Master Catalog

What I would like to know from the experts is can i easily get a 21640 and have a shop weld it on? Will it fit? If this is a problem does anyone have any recommendations as to an alternate like-OEM replacement?

Have a great new year. Thanks Much! Mike :D

Hey Mike! I would say that the only reason that chart excludes the HO is because the HO doesn't use the 3rd cat on the midpipe. It only has the two built into the the y pipe which also may be different between the HO and regular 4.7. The muffler itself should be fine. I've used a lot of walker products over the years and they make some pretty good stuff.

Dad installs a ton of Walker stuff at his shop and it has a good consistent quality. I personally would swap out the stock muffler for a large body stainless Magnaflow #12586.

That is what i was hoping to hear. Knowing i can either put on the Walker quietflow or the magnaflow as a option is good. I will probably order one of these soon. Thanks again everyone!

No it's a cat. Check out no.5 from the parts book.

It's kinda funny in '03 and '04 some have em,some don't. Maybe somebody did ad a resonator to yours. How's it sound? I've been thinking about adding a resonator tip.

I'm replacing from the CAT BACK on my 03 Limited this Monday with a stainless steal version and one large muffler but not the original one. custom made all in around 300. The CAT in the middle has the O2 sensor after it and there's also a sensor before it on the downpipe.

FWIW... I removed the 3rd cat and installed an Incynerator (SP) cheapie muffler to the factory tailpipe- sounds AWESOME.
