Tune-Up Time

Well, I'm nearing 57k miles on the clock, and I've been noticing a little rougher idle, an occasional extended crank, and last week I had a CEL (P0402). My mpg's have been less than great recently (11-13hwy), so today I picked up 16 Champion 570's , a new pcv valve, and an EGR. I hope to have it all tackled this afternoon.

Wish me luck!

Piece of cake! I would never pay anyone to change my plugs.

EGR is done, just needed to jump online to check torque specs. I read the tip about cutting the lower EGR bolt instead of moving the alternator...I don't know why anyone would do that. Two bolts in the alternator, and it just slides out of the way. Took about 10 minutes to take it apart and put it together. On to the plugs now!

Where did you get the pcv valve from? I haven't been able to find one at any local parts stores for the hemi.... I haven't tried the stealership yet....

Thanks,
Chris

NAPA part number 2-9515, they had to order it in for me...took them about 2 hours to get it from their warehouse for me, probably about the same money as the dealership, $25, but I was already picking up the plugs there.

Dang 25 bucks for a PCV? I am going to replace mine soon on the 4.7... whatever happened to the 5.99 pcv's like the old days...(my oldsmobile, 03 4.7L, and my dads intrepid) haha.

they are that cheap for the 4.7, it is the 5.7 that is more expensive

dang i wish my 05 had 57K on it! dont mean to hijack this thread, but where is the EGR valve? My truck ran awful and kept throwing code 0406. Stealership put in a EGR valve for like 350 bills...

EGR Valve is on the front of the block, right over the alternator. Two bolts go into the engine, two bolts attach the pipe from the intake manifold to the EGR, and an electrical plug on the top. Had to loosen the alternator to get at the lower egr bolt, but took me less than 1/2 an hour start to finish. I picked up the valve from Autozone, as I didn't want to order it online, and the area dealers here charge list price for parts. They wanted $73 for a Mopar one. I got mine for $49 + a two year warranty
