Buying a pre August My2014

I found an in stock My2014 that I like, and I was wondering if it's possible to tell if the N58 recall work has been done on it?

Also, the tailgate is a little misaligned.

There is a smaller gap on the right than the left. I checked a few others on the lot and they had a similar problem, so I assume it isn't an issue unless it leaks. Should I accept it like that? Is it worth getting them to fix it or will that just introduce other problems? I assume it's technically ok as long as closes properly and doesn't leak. Would you accept a car like that? You don't really notice unless you're looking closely I guess.

You already know my comments about the lift gate, re N58 recall, it would be illegal for them to knowingly sell a car that requires a recall to be performed.
Having dealt with the ACCC with a recall on an item we imported, I can tell you that you don't mess around.

Fair enough. I suspect the fact that it has the updated software means they've updated it as much as they can. It would be nice to know for sure though.

Reading Jeep Garage a bit more, it sounds like the rear alignment is common with pre August builds. Not really sure what to do. It won't bug me, I'm just concerned that it's indicative of other issues.

For the record, the service department was able to confirm that the N58 recall work was done once provided with the VIN.

Is it the door that out or the plastic bumper sitting slightly off?

There was some discussion back in March or April that concluded that while the dealers were trying to align the tailgates, and having trouble getting it right, it was in fact the bumper that was off.

I'll have a look at the bumper tomorrow, but the gap between the tailgate and the rear panel is bigger on one side than the other. I haven't compared it to the bumper.

I think the rear panel is all part of the bumper cover. If you look above the tail lights it looks pretty close in the photos.

You might be right. I had a look this morning and I still think it's misaligned with the panel above the lights too, which isn't part of the bumper. The bigger difference seems to be the lights and the bumper. Is this a common problem? Fixable without causing problems with seals etc?
