Whirring from rear end at 60mph

I feel like in the last couple days after not driving the truck for 2 weeks things are hitting the fan

On the highway going about 58-63mph there seems to be a sound coming from the rear end. It almost seems like I can feel a little something extra in the pedal too. Before and after those speeds there is nothing; if I stay at that speed it will continue. If it's during those speeds and I let off, it goes away

Sounds like it could be the rear diff pinion bearing. Due to the pinions faster rotation, it is often described as a whirring noise (as opposed to the carrier bearings which are described as more of a rumble). If your lucky, it could just be the preload is not correct (has any work been done on the rear, like a pinion seal replaced?), though usually that results in a howl when off the gas, not when accelerating.

Have you checked the diff fluid level to ensure it's alright? Noise at a set speed can point to improper lubrication.

If you know what you are looking for, you can remove the cover and give things a look, if not, you'll likely have to take it somewhere for them to give it a once over.

No work done recently. I'm foreign to rwd cars as this is my first. I let it sit in the garage for 2 weeks when I went home for the holidays and now I'm starting to notice small things. I have no clue how to check fluid level in the diff

Checking the fluid level is easy. Remove the rubber plug with a flat head screwdriver and dip your finger in. The fluid should be right up to the bottom of the opening for the plug. You can also get an idea of quality by seeing if the fluid is especially dirty.

What's your mileage? Service history? If the diff fluid hasn't been replaced in a while, that could be a good place to start.

Mileage is right about 414xx. Got it used with 39xxx in october. I changed the oil beginning of December with penzoil full synthetic 5w20

I'm trying to get everything squared away Before the thermostat, intake, programmer

hello! I'm having the same exact noise on my rig. Did checking/changing your diff fluid stop the noise?
