2005 4.7L Starting Issues

I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L. Lately it has been having intermittent starting problems, which I initially though was from a dead battery. $90 later, the dealer says they couldn't find anything drawing current. The car will periodically not start when you turn the key, just a single click from the relay. All of the accessories come on and the the lights and stuff don't seem week. After a few attempts of starting, the car will eventually turn over and run just fine. Again, this only happens every few days as of now. Although I normally do most of my own work on the car, I am at college right now, so I can't really dig into my car too much right now, but my uncle who is a mechanic has determined over the phone that it is probably the starter. What do you guys think.

Also, I just replaced the battery about a week ago.

Starter, ignition is all I could come up with.

It's the starter, they're known to die on '05 WK's.

Thats good to know. What have you guys paid for new starters. I was looking on the internet and saw New Mopar starters for around $70 while rebuilts appear to be around the $125-$150 Range which I thought was weird. I guess I will call the local stealership again tomorrow.

Just a thought. Might be a loose connection to the starter. Follow the positive battery feed to the strarter and see if you can tighten it a little. Secure other connections. Make sure you disconnect your negative battery cable first or you could see alot of fireworks down there.

Thanks for the help. I am getting it replaced on Wednesday. Could just be a loose wire, but the part is pretty cheap($80 new oem from dealer), and i don't really have any way of getting under the car at the moment(Snowy college parking lot, limited tools, no jack, and the skid plates are in the way to see anything) I figure I will get the old one back from the dealer, and then at least have a spare/some parts. Too bad it didn't happen over winter break when I had it jacked up and did the brakes.

Also, I get my $90 diagnostic fee back if I let them fix something.

i bought mine from the dealer, 93 bucks, and started to install myself but after finally finding after 10 minutes of looking i decided to let the dealer do it for 180.
