How many things are wrong with my 2014 SRT?!?!
 
Hey guys,
So I have been having a few issues with my Jeep:
1. Oil leaking out of the engine
2. Clunking coming from right front suspension
3. Sticking and grinding breaks
4. Alarm going off for no reason

So I went to a local dealership next to my office. I have bought several Jeeps for this place, they always have great pricing. However, I have never been happy with the service dept - shocker right...

So I bring my jeep in and tell them what's going on. The answers that I received were unreal.

Issue #1 - they told me that it was the filter, I believed them until it happened two more times. BTW, they were still telling me it was the oil filter

Issue #2 - Service manager gave me an analogy of me going outside in the cold. He told me I would shiver until I ran around and warmed up. He told me that is what was happening with my jeep... that it needed to warm and that was why I have the clunking coming from the right front suspension.

Issue #3 - Answer from service manager "They are high performance breaks, its totally normal" So I asked why it all of a sudden started after 11,500 miles. he said, "Because they are high performance"

Issue #4 - Service manager told me to open and close all doors, hood and trunk. That didn't work. I posted the problem on the board and resolved help from you guys. I ended up cleaning and adjusting the hood latch sensor.

During this whole time I have been working this Jeep Enhanced Customer Service and they were aware of the issues as well as what the service manager was doing - they were not happy with the outcome.

I heard good things about another local dealer from RockstarSRT who had aftermarket work done on his SRT there. So I figured I would give them a try.

I simply cannot say enough good about this service manager. The guy is extremely professional and has been awesome to work with. After the jeep being there for one day, I received a call from the service manager. He blew me away with what he found going on with my jeep.

The oil leak was coming from the engine oil cooler and the entire unit needed to be replaced. The clunking from the suspension was a faulty strut and they are replacing the entire right front strut assembly, the breaks...all new breaks and rotors up front and new pads in the back (they are installing my Hawk ceramic pads instead of the stock pads), they also found that the hood latch was faulty and they are replacing that as well.

So I ask you guys this, how could another service department miss all of these things. It absolutely shocks me. I mean, come on, do your job. I called the owner of the dealership to let me know how badly his service dept dropped the ball. As you can imagine he was not very happy. Needless to say, I will not be going back there for service.

Another question that I have is why the hell are there so many issues with this jeep. I just do not understand what could cause all of this. Either way it is getting fixed and I am really happy about the new service department that is working on my jeep.

I'll keep you guys posted if anything else happens.

I'm glad to hear that you are getting taken care of finally and sucks about all the hassle with the other dealer. Over the years I have found that a brands image can be made or broken by a great or crappy dealer. I love my SRT and have only had a few minor issues most of which I addressed myself because they were easy fixes and better than wasting hours of my time going back and forth with a SA who had no clue what he/she was talking about.

With that being said the few encounters I have had with my local Jeep dealer for warranty or service items have been less than outstanding and if I wasn't set on an SRT because of the vehicle itself and a pretty patient person I probably would not own one.

This is probably going to sound bad but it is all in the mentality of the dealer and their true dedication to customer service, attention to detail, and knowledge. Customers who purchase $65K vehicles expect to have their vehicles serviced and treated like they are $65k vehicles not a $20K vehicle.

Coming from Lexus this is one thing I miss. I drove a IS350 (pretty much their entry level vehicle) and every time I was at the dealer it was treated just the same as the $80K vehicles. Paper floor mats put down, seats covered, techs had on gloves so no grease/oil on the steering wheel/shift lever, ext. If Jeep wants to play in the "High end" SUV world they need to wake up and start addressing this with their dealers.

Short story, now that you have a good service department stick with them and hopefully you will be issue free moving forward.

i get the clunking in the front suspension. had an appointment to have it looked at but it went away (temps also got warmer but more importantly i think it stopped snowing) For me it seems to have something to do with the front end being packed with snow / ice / sand / salt. not so much the temps. Clunking came back after driving in the most recent snow fall. after a couple days of melting no more noise. I had it up on a lift and really couldn't find anything wrong with it. a little movement in the half shafts but that's probably normal.

its getting to a point we need a name and shame section for dumb a55 service dept's that talk sh1t and just flat out dont want to help.
BUT there are alot of good ones as well out there. the guys in McCarroll's Chrysler Jeep and Dodge in Newcastle nsw have gone above and beyond, Leigh and TY have been champions in every way.
My car is constantly looked after and even washed and a vac as they try and fix the USA issues with the radio.
i hope you have better luck with the rest of your dealings with the service section.

You really have to pick and choose your dealer and service departments wisely and then ensure you form a good relationship with them. My service manager says I can call him anytime which I do, even if I leave a message for him, he calls back every time. Even better, he lives near me, so he takes my car and leaves his at my place to drive around for the day......that's good service. At the moment I have the damn oil filter problem, small leak which will need attention soon.

I had the same exact issue with mine. it got really bad in the cold and then a bit better when it warmed up. The dealership determined that it was not functioning correctly and that it was something inside the strut, so they are replacing it. I hope to have the car back on Friday. I will let you know how it works out.

100% correct, you need to take care of the people that take care of you! I have season tickets to the Bruins here in Boston. He is getting a few!

I agree with you. It would be a great resource if we listed reviews on dealership service departments. I can tell you guys to stay away from the service dept at 495 Jeep, but the service at Clark Jeep has been awesome!!!
