2012 GCHEROKEE antenna woes
Just purchased a 2012 used GCHEROKEE 6v 4wd Limited. After backing it into my garage for the first time, a looped cable hanging from my garage door tore the 8 in. Antenna rod off my roof but leaving the plastic base attached. Radio/satellite radio still works, however a dealership told me the base has been damaged and the ceiling component would have to be taken out to repair with a quote of $540 to fix. Can I just order a replacement and call it a wash since it all appears to be working? Please help!

Same thing happened to me earlier today. Everything works - base is intact. I would really just like to glue it back in place and not replace it at all. Thoughts or experience on this? Jeep overland 2013. Thanks in advance for the help!

Can you replace it with the aftermarket sharkfin?

Great idea.. Don't know why it wouldn't work. Thank you so much. Appreciate it.

The break wasn't a clean one with base, the plastic is jagged, is the shark fin still an option? Or the stubbie?

Check this and see if it's doable in your case.

That helps so much. I hope that this will do it. Appreciate the help!

Had this issue a while back.
Ordered a 2.75 inch stubby antenna from CravenSpeed.
The look is very clean , the Stubby antenna screws into your existing base.
Installs in seconds and always clears the garage opening.
Worked for me.

Another great option! Thank you.

Thank you all for the responses/suggestions!! I have an attached photo of the exposed chip/damaged base. It appears to be more than just screwing in a stubbie or attaching a shark fin over the base. I have a feeling this is not going to be DIY, but a pricey shop fix;(

Have you tested it by covering what's leftover with something to simulate a sharkfin to see if the radio and sat will still work?

eibyer-- That is a great suggestion. I plan to repalce it with the shark fin regardless, at least this way I will already have the part if I have to take it in to a shop if that doesn't work. Thank you!
