Wrangler 3.0L CRD in Detroit?

How many of you are crossing there fingers for a presentation of a diesel Wrangler this weekend at the Detroit auto show?

I am!

But it makes more sense for the 2.8l 4 cylinder diesel that is used in the European version of the wrangler.

I would take it as a slap in the face if Jeep was to " introduce" the old 2.8L to the North American market when the new 3L is available and doing well.

for size/weight/cost I figured the 2.8l would be used. I guess retrofitting the urea is an issue.
the fuel economy of the 2.8l equipped wrangler is pretty good IMO.

Sergio talked today about "upgrading" the Wrangler...but sticking to its roots. He believes the drivetrain can be updated and still keep the Wranglers DNA intact

Sure. Slap that 3.0 diesel and 8 speed transmission in there and leave the rest of the "DNA" alone.

Just do it already, eh Jeep?!

Although, I admit, I'd like the new nav they are using in the GC, backup cam and HID projectors while we are at it.

We' d love to have a diesel but here in the good ole USA they are slapping an extra $4500 on the sticker of the GCs... it will just put JKUs in the stratosphere.

Trust me, you really won't want the new Uconnect radios (like in the GC). every function runs through them (radio, climate, aux controls, etc). In a Wrangler, you want stuff you can fix or get fixed for little $$$. That radio just complicates everything.
