Two Dissapointments but mostly positive

My wife and I picked up the Durango on Saturday (2014 Limited AWD True Blue) and are very please with just about everything on it except the spare tire and no off for the radio.

Putting on my splash guards I noticed the spare tire is a Kumho 245/65R18 while the rest of the tires on the Durango are 265/60R18 Michelins. Any one else notice this? I think I will bring this up to the dealer although it will probably get me no where. I do realize the overall diameter should be the same, but I still expected the spare to match given its on the same rim diameter.

The radio not staying muted is annoying on restart, I have yet to update the Uconnect and I believe this will fix it, hopefully.

Other than that we are very happy with the ride and handling, well my wife is, she won't let me drive :D Oh well its her car, after all I drive an EFI Live tuned Duramax so I have nothing to complain about.

We may have to add some running boards, if not for her, the kids later. Looking at the Dee Zee NXC in black, although I can't find a good picture on a Durango/Jeep, any one else look at these?

Sorry no pictures till the weather straightens out and I can get it cleaned up.

I pointed this out to the dealer on my R/T. I have the Kumho as well. I was confused because the Kumho is the same diameter the rim is 18". The said it is the correct spare, it is full size in that the diameter is the same even if it is not as wide...

Re: Two Dissapointments but mostly positive

Your two disappointments are, unfortunately, normal. Although the spare is technically full size and useable, it is not intended to permanently replace one of the 4 on the vehicle.

The mute issue has been discussed quite a bit. So far there is no indication that Chrysler plans on changing it, but you never know.

Concentrate on the 'mostly positive' :)

Oh we are definitely focused on the positives, its a big step up from the 2007 Impala.

I realize that the spare is technically full size and yes I am aware of the tow package, its the only option we opted for. I would have used it when I bought new tires down the road if it matched, but oh well.

Congrats on the new D.

I have the limited AWD as well and just recently added the splash guards. I also noticed the tire but had read on another post that it was normal. The radio drove me crazy for a while and I've done two UConnect updates and it still doesn't stay muted. For now I've got in the habit of turning the volume dial all the way to zero as if I was shutting it off like some other radios work. That has kept my sanity for now.

not too many cars come with real full size spares! extra rim/tire costs much more then a steel wheel spare costs. Haven't looked at mine yet, but chances are that we all have the same spare hah. Most of the under carriage holders don't have depth to take a wider tire either.

Nor does the well in the GC. Somebody posted pictures a while back showing how they put a raise floor in their GC to accommodate a spare that matched the other tires/wheels.

This guy has the deezee nxc on his 13 RT.

I want to get them as well, but don't know for sure if they'll fit on the 14. Let me know, you'll be the Guinea pig.

Any aftermarket running boards going to fit my R/T? Frustration mounting - Page 3 - DodgeForum.com

I assumed they would fit and ordered them, so I guess I will be the Guinea pig :D Just waiting for the mounting kit to be delivered. Supposed to be today but with the weather we shall see.

I got Street Side Auto to match Amazon's price (well beat it by a dollar) by calling in. Street Side will ship much faster than Amazon. Total was $313 for the boards and mounting kit.

Here is another 2013 (Citadel) with the DeeZee boards: Running boards and 2nd row center console - Page 4

Full size spare is just play on words

Yes its full size but does not match the other 4 tyre rims

Yep. They look sharp. I really think they'll look amazing on my Black '14 R/T.
