1999 Wrangler 4.0L P0505 Problems =( IAC Replacement Wont work.
I have a 1999 Wrangler 4.0L 5 Speed. While taking it through echeck, it popped a light for Idle Air Control System, P0505.
I replaced the IAC with one from autozone, and upon starting, it surged to 2k RPMs and wouldnt drop. So I bought another IAC, and i manually pulled the plunger out all the way so it matched the length of the one I removed. I put it back in, and now when I start it, it idles at 1k rpm and climbs up to 1400 and stays there.
The problem is even if I reset the check engine light with two different handhelds, it turns back on when i cycle the ignition, without starting the truck. Even if I do a battery pull, its there on ignition cycle. With the old and new sensor. So either my handhelds are just making the light turn off once, and not clearing from history, or its a wiring issue leading to the IAC.
Any ideas or suggestions on what to try next?

jiggle the PCM connectors... I believe dependent on the controller this uses I have seen driver issues from the PCM on other dodge vehicles of this era... By jiggle I mean grasp the connector and torque it up and down and see if it cleans up.
