Custom tuning, and select knob

Okay, so hear in Australia we get four modes : Tow, Auto, Sport, and Track, on our '14 SRT.

How will a custom tune affect each of these 4 settings?

Thanks guys.

A custom tune should not affect any of the settings.

Re: Custom tuning, and select knob

So the knob only adjusts torque between front and rear wheels? And also adjusts shift patterns?

So what mode would you tune it in?

Sorry just abit confused on how the dial affects things. Cheers

the canned tunes from Diablo right now doesn't change a thing with the tranny or suspension. They haven't gotten that deep into the 2014 SRT yet.

So pretty much not worth it yet??

Re: Custom tuning, and select knob

I've been looking for this kind of info and decided that i was going to look into undertaking this project soon.

I've done it before and with more complex systems so i'm looking forward to tackling this one.

The knob settings are called Macros. These macros hold a list of parameters that can be altered. With a proper re-write, we should have a screen that let's us choose each parameter in each macro.

In the Mitsubishi ECU on a Ducati Panigale, there are 3 macros: Wet, Sport and Race.

In each of them you can choose:
- Engine map: 120hp, Full-hp progressive throttle, Full-hp direct throttle
- Traction control: levels 1-8
- Quick shift: on-off
- ABS...
- Anti-wheelie...
and so on.

Jeep has implemented part of this in the 2016 SRT. There is one more position for the knob, called Custom (or something like that). I'm not sure which parameters can be changed, yet.

I, for one, would like to be able to set a few parameters that could be retained after turning the car off. For example, my daily macro would be:
- Engine: ECO
- Transmission: ECO
- Suspension: Track
- TC: ON
Since there's an adaptive mode called Auto, I'd save this Macro under Sport.

And, under Track, i'd save it like this:
- Engine: Track
- Transmission: Track
- Suspension: Track
- TC: ON
Since TC is definitely something that I want to ONLY disable when i choose, I find it annoying to have to enabling it when I choose the Track mode.

Anyway, please let me know any interest regarding this.

I wish we could permanately set our launch control higher, instead of spinning the dial every time.

Re: Custom tuning, and select knob

That's certainly something we could do.

Bring-on other ideas.

illegal_machine what do you mean "spinning the dial"? There is adjustment for RPM when using launch control? Is that a maybe a 2014 feature or have I just not figured it out on my 2015?

Re: Custom tuning, and select knob

I've seen people do this also but it doesn't work in my 2015.
They must have removed it, and replaced it with the fixed optimal RPM.

Again, this is certainly a feature that can be built into the system.

Press the launch control button. The press and hold with one hand and spin the dial with the other.

It raises the RPM launch 100RPM per click. I usually just spin the shit out of it.

It resets back to 2000RPM when you shut the SRT off.

This thread says a max of 3200 and min of 1100. But I can't get it over 3K and I've reduced it to zero spinning the wrong way.
