Visual mod venting.

So dropped the Jeep off at a highly recommended glass shop to swap in the chrome rear quarter glass.

Went over everything with the guy who was doing it, showed him what needed to match up (line wise) and how it should look when it was done.

Told him no rush, take all the time you need, & left.

Get a call two hours later, all the work is done - great! I told them I'd swing by after work to pick it up.

So I get to the shop (my co worker with a 2010 SRT8 drove me) jump out and walk over to the Jeep to look at the work.

:(

Both pieces were installed incorrect. The chrome that runs under the glass and extends past the glass had about a half inch gap from the body. Looks like complete shit, I could tell they did not clean out the old sealant and had also not cleaned up excess sealant from the install which leaked out in some places.

I walked in and asked to speak with the guy who did the install but he had left for the day, so the manager came out and I showed him what I was talking about. I was so upset, I showed him what OEM looked like since the other SRT was parked right next to me and he agreed that it was not installed properly.

So I'm going back in 10 days to have it redone on them.

What sucks is, if they are not careful they will bend the chrome, so again I will have to explain how important it is to be careful and clean out all the ****ing sealant crap before giving it another go.

Sometimes I just want to find someone for take over payments, I love the Jeep but days like today I wish I never had it. Its hard when you go to people who are supposed to be the expert and they half ass it and don't care.

I care so much about this stuff and it will bother me until it is fixed to an OEM look.

So on to the 12th, I will let you know how it goes.

:(

yeah.....that does suck! It took me 4 times to get my rear bumper right.....

1st time I put it on before the exhaust and the exhaust gas melted the bumper

2nd bumper-paint didnt match

3rd time(same bumper as second)-paint still didnt match perfect

4th time-had lower louvers painted and finally matched good

Man your are allot like me.. People these days have no standards... All they want is a damn paycheck and done care about the end result. People don't realize that whatever they do has their name all over it. I don't know about other people but my name/reputation mean allot o me.

Thanks guys, had some time to cool off...

I'll go for my appointment on the 12th and see if I can get the manager himself to redo the job for me, i'll ask him straight up if he thinks he can do it to the standard I showed him (OEM) and ill let him know if he doesn't think he can then no problem, i'll ask for a refund and take it to the dealership and have them take a look.

Will let you know how it goes.

that suks man. sorry to hear. most the time the best person for the job is yourself (whenever you can). windows would be tough without the know how or tools. you still pay for a pro even if the shops dont do a professional job. is the window going to leak in the mean time??

Thanks Paul, this was just the icing on the cake to a rough day at work too.

No leaks, the base of the glass was not set correctly, my guess is because they did not take the time to clean out all the old sealant.

So true about doing it yourself, that is an option too, I could have them take the glass out and give it to me to set in correct. Id take as long as I needed to clean everything up and practice setting it and seeing how it lines up and when I got it perfect I would go ahead and glue it all in.

Seems easy to me, but it's all about money with these places - but also glad I they owned up to a mistake and are going to do it again.

the guy who did mine used a grease pencil to mark where the laredo windows were before he took them out. He completely cleaned all the glue/sealant out of the window and the truck and thenglued the new one in the exact same spot. 2 hours and he was gone....
