CAI for WK2 V6 even worth it?
Looking to get better fuel economy for my wifes V6 WK2. Ive searched the forums, all I've come up with is that it will be louder than stock above 4k rpms and some say they can feel a difference in power. All I want to know is if ppl have actually gotten better fuel economy #s. I'm looking at the afe dry cai.

Your WK2 comes from the factory with a pretty cool cold air intake (CAI). It brings in cool air from the top of your grill, and uses a pretty trick bottom feed to the stock air filter. Keeps mud and water from being ingested during high water and off road adventures. It has a largish plastic feeder with built in sound suppression (Helmholtz resonator) to provide a quiet and efficient source of cool, fresh air.

Most aftermarket filter systems actually tend to draw in hot engine compartment air, which would give you worse fuel economy, not better.

While you are checking this out, notice how amazingly light your hood is.

Hi Uncle Paul;
Many thanks for sharing the knowledge. I was about to purchase CAI for my WK2 5.7 and I think I will change my mind after your comments..

I wonder if there are another experts who can share their experience/knowledge.

I put off buying a CAI for a long time based on the various forum threads. Given the heat under the hood I surrounded the stock air filter housing with insulation. But I finally decided to get the Mopar CAI for the minor performance improvement, and cool look. So far my V8 and I are happy with the CAI.
