New Emblems: Chrome? debadge?

Getting the wifes WJ painted soon (I promised I would over a year ago) anyway its got some damage, scraped right door, a dented a fender and bumper (previous owner must've hit something on the right side) that being said "Grand cherokee" has been scraped and the rest of the emblems on the car are peeling.

My friends at maaco quoted me $615 (after tax) to get it fixed and painted but not only do the emblems look like crap ive noticed maaco likes to tape over emblems and it leaves marks after, that being said I'm going to rip all the emblems off and then put on new ones.

Looking on ebay alot of these emblems are crazy overpriced but I did see a set in chrome for $40. Does anyone have these? I want to see them on a WJ first before i buy them. My second thought is maybe debadging it and only put "Jeep" on the hood and tailgate. opinions? pics? please and thank you

If you decide to keep the badging, scrape the rest of them off and check out sites like jeep4x4center.com/grand_cherokee/nameplates.htm, justforjeeps.com, wjjeeps.com/nameplates.htm. A lot of people also debadge, some take it all off, some just the sides, just the front and back, etc. I can't think of the name off the tip of my tongue but a member also makes custom badging.

If you do decide on putting new emblems stay far away from chrome. They have that clear plastic coating and will look the same way yours do now within a year or 2 especially if you run through car washes a lot. The only ones I see last are the silver ones. They don't seem to have the coating and every set I've seen on a Grand were perfect no matter how old the were. I think the vendors know this too because the silver ones are always more expensive than any other color. Our old '99 Laredo had 220,000 mi. with silver badging and they were perfect. The '04's chrome ones were shot before 32,000 mi. I just took them off. IMO they look better without them anyway.

Here's a few. The only thing I kept is the Trail Rated badge and I moved it to the rear.

I put 2014 the "CHEROKEE" badge on the side of mine where the OEM badges went (Graphite in color), then did the Jeep logo on the plastic piece in the middle of the hatch right above the license plate (Black in color with the plastic piece painted graphite)..
Looks mean, I think.

Back (old pic, I will get an updated one since that trim has been painted):http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/...ps739623e8.jpg

All other badges have been removed.

Grill is oe hi quality chrome...hood logo os half smoke and half oe...its so flawed it shows through the PD...sides are oe badges damaged from pressure washer...wheels are PD'd Moabs. Im afraid to debadge becaise I LOVE MY PAINT and hate the thought of fade or scuff marks.
