Tire pressure

The ride was feeling a little soft on corners, so on the advice of my old man aka The Wise One, I decided to check the tire pressure on all four tires. Since I haven't checked it in the past 3 months I was shocked to find that it was only registering 30 pounds in each tire. After filling them up to 36 psi cold the ride quality was drastically improved.

So just a word to the wise, check your tire pressure.

Yup.... His exact words. Man, seriously, a real noticeable difference in ride quality.

Re: Tire pressure

36lbs at 60F seems a little high if your door jams says 33lbs. If you have 20 inch wheels then you are in the correct range.

Good thing it's 30 degrees! I did read and certainly will adhere to the comments about down pressurizing once the temp gets above 50. Not sure where I read that but I do agree with you about the temp range and where the pressure should be.

Just curious, would you happen to know how many lbs the air in the tire increase once the tires get to operating temp?

Re: Tire pressure

Read somewhere that pressure increases by 1 pound per 10F increase in outside temperature. Of course pressure will also temporarily increase as you drive due to friction with road.
