dash problems HELP PLEEEEASE
 
WE HAVE A 96 GRAND CHEROKEE here with elect problems,
starts and runs fine
after starting instrument panel will function normal for a few seconds and all instruments and gauges will shut down , motor will run,
no radio, power windows door lock or other accessories
can turn ing switch slightly and all will work again for s few seconds
have checked and cleaned all connections from batt cables, ecm and connections at cluster, replaced ing switch check all fuses and relays
checked all grounds I can locate
scratched my head , cussed loudly, drank a cold one , slammed the hood
still has the same problem
any ideals????

Fixes I've heard of for this -

Bad BCM,
Loose power wire going to fuse box,

And one time heard of a guy who found out that one of his o2 sensor wires was shorting out due to the insulation scraping off, causing your problem.

That last one is kind of a long shot, I know.

bcm is that the box under the dash above your left leg ??
have not checked connnections at fuse box either under hood o rt kick panel inside car

Yep, BCM is kinda right below the headlight switch.

still having same problem, spent the money on a new ecm( jeep is proud of that part) no change , still no dash radio, window or door locks, any one have a wiring diag of this system, if not any one need a good part car , bout to give up on tis one, getting personal,

Did you get an ecm or bcm? Just wondering cause they aren't the same thing.

And this may sound weird but I was just reading about some people who fixed this problem simply by disconnecting their battery for ten minutes, although I cannot verify it myself.

will try the battery disconnect trick , nothing to loose
