6.4 engine
Is the 6.4 liter engine on the SRT aluminum or cast iron?

not 100% sure but I believe it is cast.

Thank, looks like its cast iron.
Mopar catalog shows an all aluminum 6.4 crate engine I guess they are different engines.

Or maybe just an alum. version? Wonder how much weight would be lost....?

Could be 200 pound plus diet....

Re: 6.4 engine
The 6.4L crate engine is different (and much better) compared to the engines they put in the SRT vehicles like our Jeeps. The crates are good for all sorts of abuse with much less risk if you want to put any sort of FI on your car. They don't have some features though which our engines do, such as the ECO mode.

Prices are not cheap at all... keep in mind that their published performance figures are usually extremely conservative. Folks report getting much better numbers than advertised (similar to how our beasts put out more than expected.)

I have a 1991 jeep grand wagoneer I'm working on.

I would love to stick one of those aluminum monsters in, and and 8 speed auto.

My engine is still good, although it has close to 200k miles on it.

The pay part is not the problem. Getting a complete package I could drop on with electoral is and all probably is.
