Safety Recall Notice February 4, 2014

Did anyone else get a recall notice for the 2014 Grand Cherokee? It says that the instrument cluster may experience cluster blackout, illumination of multiple cluster warning lights and/or loss of ABS/electric stability control system.

I'm just wondering how many people got this recall notice. I'm taking it to the dealership to get the stuff fixed on Saturday. Hopefully I will be fine till then (knock on wood) lol

Pretty much everyone who bought one built before August I believe. It is just a reprogram and check a ground strap bolt.

From November 2013 recall;

"The instrument cluster on about 90,900 of the above vehicles may experience cluster blackout, illumination of multiple cluster warning lights and/or a loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) / electronic stability control system function. These vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101 Controls and Displays and No. 126 Electronic Stability Control Systems. A loss of instrument cluster illumination and/or loss of ABS function during certain driving conditions could cause a crash without warning."

I'm surprised that the recall was from November and they did not fix the issue on mine before I leased it. I leased mine on December 23 so was the dealership supposed to fix it when the recall came out?

Maybe they did the update but didn't report it properly.

Unless they updated something it didn't apply to vehicles built after August.

You can check recalls and TSBs at this link;

Yes, they should have. The service department can check your vin in the system to see if it was done.

I had my safety recall performed about a month ago...along with a bunch of TSBs reflashes (tranny, HVAC, and radio).

Ok so it's not a new recall. I am surprised they didn't fix it before they sold it to me. Also I am going to have them look at some other quirks that I have noticed.

How do you know the dealership didn't do the safety recall? How long ago did you take delivery of your vehicle?

Also, what are the other quirks?

Had mine done 2 weeks ago. Never been in shop to that point.

Now it has been in shop for 3 days with a low battery voltage warning.

Proceed with caution. If it aint broke...don't fix it.
