Excessive brake dust from 2014 SRT Brembos

Anyone else notice a LOT of dust build up on the front wheels? 5000ish miles on it. It does appear to be not as bad lately...hard to say.

This will be the story of your life with factory Brembro's. Most of the dust is alleviated by going to ceramic pads though.

don't do ceramic pads...IMHO...on these brembos. Youll lose stopping power, feel etc. I use the hawk hps performance street pads on the front and stoptechs on the rear. VERY light dust and oem stopping power. Ive had this on 3 SRT Jeeps.

Ahhh. Glad to see there is a solution. Yea, I like the response of the oem brakes...don't wanna lose any of that. How's the $$ on the ones you use? Special order or would some brake shops have them?

Thanks

Why not Hawks all the way around or even Stoptechs all the way around?

Just a combo that was successful on the 1st gen srt...so I used it on this SRT. Plus stop tech doesn't make them for the fronts. Oem stopping power and very light dust.

Reviving an old thread here. This is my first jeep, are new pads something that is a DIY at home or are any special tools needed?

If you are asking, you should let professionals do it.

The Brembo's have 6 pistons on the front and 4 on the rear. They can be difficult to retract all the pistons without the right tools or knowledge.
It is also very easy to have issues like seized pistons, that without the proper know how, could cost you more than just paying for it to be done in the first place.

I changed my front pads to Hawk Ceramic myself in my driveway. If you have some mechanical knowledge and tools it can be done. But as ENFORCER suggests, if your in no way comfortable doing it, let a mechanic do it for you. Should cost you less than $50 to have it done.

Higher performance brake pads = more dust. These pads have been chosen to haul this heavy beast to a hault in a very short distance time after time, without brake fade. A ceramic pad will not perform as good. The stock pads are not for everyone, neither is the SRT.

I'm decently mechanically inclined and can figure out most jobs, just have only done brakes on Hondas before and that is about as easy as it gets. On my last car (Audi S4) there was a release that had to be done electronically with a computer, wasnt sure if these were similar. I paid a shop to do those though!
