Re: transmission problem
Fluid dark, burnt smelling?
How long since the transmission has had the fluid replaced, pressures checked, ... basically just regular maintenance.

One item you might want to look for if you have a transmission cooler is whether or not the fluid lines to the cooler are drooping low enough to get too close to the exhaust pipe because some !@!@#$ mouth breathing idiot left off their retainers...
As the fluid gets too hot, it rather acts funny. Don't ask.

Is the TCM not part of the PCM?

Re: transmission problem
I'm not sure, I thought it was under the console behind shifter. chrysler manual describes a separate module but no location. 98 ZJ model.
