Octane rating for the SRT ?
 
Where I live, we have two refuelling options : Special (Octane 95) and Super (Octane 98). Not completely sure but I guess that is measured as RON.

The dealer told me I don't need more than 95 RON because the car was made for 91 Octane (AKI), and thus the Special rating is more than enough for the car.

Question, do you guys think its beneficial to use 98 RON Octane instead ? I have 2000km on it using 95 RON octane until now.

It says the compression ratio is 10.9:1, where some online sources recommend93 Octane AKI / 97 RON for such specification.
However, it says that 91 AKI / 95 RON is recommended for the engine ! whaaat

I live in CALIFORNIA and have a 2012 and all we have is 91 octane and in normal driving its ok BUT at WOT it will pull timing even with a bone stock srt8. So make sure if you go to the track you use your 98 octane. When i go to the track with my bone stock tune i use a 50/50mix of 91 & unleded race gas (vp109 = 105 octane) that = 98 octane with a high 4.05% of oxygen rating and this seems to keep the pcm from pulling timing and make more hp at WOT. Your dealer told you wrong all srt8 were designed to use 91 or 93.

I'm pretty sure your Octane Ratings are different from the US. Hopefully someone can expand on this.

From my understanding the stock tune allows for 91 and 93, the two most common premium gasoline levels in the USA. 93 will give you better performance.

It was the same way with my Accord I had. It was rated for 87 but 89 (Plus) gave you more HP. It was even in the owners manual.

Yeah he said 91, but I couldn't remember if it was 89 or 91. So shall I keep refuelling at 95 ?

Canada = Premium 91 octane (R+M)/2 recommended

I would always use the highest octane you can get at the pumps but if your 95 is equal to the USA 91 i would use it until i was going racing at the track.

The USA and some other countries use MON (Motor Octane Number) as their ratings standard, where most of the world uses RON (Research Octane Number)
MON 91 = RON 95
Each fuel maker sets the RON or MON rating on their fuel. Regular Unleded petrol = MON 82 or RON 91.
Premium unleaded petrol = MON 91 or RON 95
You would need to see what standard is used to decide what is best for your car. Most cars will have a sticker on the inside of the fuel filler flap that says what should be used in the local country.
Because these are high performance engines, you are always advised to put int he highest rating fuel available.

Being you are in Dubai and fuel is cheaper than water, you would be best to run 98 :p

I use 98Ron here in Australia, even though 95Ron would suffice.

Haha I wish it was really cheaper than water, but it's still cheaper than what they charge you guys in the US.

But why is it BEST to run on 98, how different will it be from 95 ?

The higher the better... basically, the higher the RON or Octane, the less chances, the engine will knock (pinging).
