Muffler inlet/outlet size

I'm getting ready to order a Flowmaster Delta 50 series muffler for my 07 XK and was wondering which inlet/outlet diameter people were using? I'm pretty sure stock is 2.5" so should I go 2.5" in/3" out or could I get away with 3" in/3" out? I'm leaving everything else stock just doing cat-back.

Re: Muffler inlet/outlet size

I did some measuring and discovering something quite interesting. After the Cat/resonators there is a bolted flange point before continuing on to the muffler. The pipe on the cat side measure 3" OD while the pipe on the muffler side measures 2.5" OD. There doesn't seem to be much of a reducer going on either, just a 3" pipe bolted up to a 2.5" pipe. So, I went with a 3" in/out muffler, bye bye bottle neck.
