Domestic Long Range Fuel Tank?

Hey all,

I've found some information on the Australian options for a long-range fuel tank replacement. But what are our options in the states, is anyone manufacturing them?

Specifically I am interested in gasoline, not diesel.

I also thought the unused area where the spare tire goes on the Durango would be a great place for an extra fuel tank! Of course you need to somehow hook it up to the primary tank. And figure out how to switch to the extra tank and a monitor the level with a gauge.

If going off-road it should be protected with a skid plate. And the tow hitch so we don't have the hazard situation from the previous generations.

Now it sounds like a big and time-consuming project.

Has anyone found one of these in the US?

GRAND CHEROKEE WK 2014 Diesel

Is there a Long range fuel tank solution in the US for WK2s?

There is a solution from longranger.au, but it will not work on the North American spec Jeeps because the location that they put the long range fuel tank is currently occupied by the DEF tank.

This sounds like a good KickStarter or indiegogo project to help possibly create and participate in...

I wounder how many Jeep owners in the US would be interested in a solution that will allow owners of the WK2 to install a Long Range Fuel Tank... If that is even possible given the space constraints the DEF Tank has put on the US owners...

If it's gasoline powered-there is plenty of room. If it's diesel powered-there is just no room to stuff an extra fuel supply somewhere. Unfortunately, it looks to be evident that jerrycans or a fuel bladder on the roof are the only alternatives.

Well what if the diesel version has a separate area for the DEF? That way you would remove the DEF Tank and replace it with a Diesel tank that had a DEF tank integrated with it... Just thinking out loud about a possible solution for Diesel owners...

Wishful thinking - to be honest we are a minute small amount of owners. Honestly I don't see a aftermarket manufacturer investing capital into a project with so few potential customers. Nothing wrong with thinking out loud.....but its wishful thinking.
