2010 Jeep Liberty, air directional problem
Unable to control air direction, always blows to defrost. I removed assembly with directional motor and temperature control motor from driver side of heater box. I found stripped gear on defrost/floor directional gate. I'm sure replacing this would require removal of entire dash to get to heater box. I'm shocked that Jeep has such poor quality parts as this is not something that can be abused or mistreated, just fails under normal operation. Anyone know if Jeep will cover this, car is no longer understand warranty due to age (2010) but only has 26,000 miles on it.

Re: 2010 Jeep Liberty, air directional problem
Welcome to the forum, it seems to be a pretty common problem, my does the same thing and has to go in for service. I would contact Chrysler's Customer Support and see if they can do anything for you. With as many people having this issue you would think they would have a recall for it. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Re: 2010 Jeep Liberty, air directional problem
My 2010 Liberty (24,000 miles) has the same problem with the same stripped plastic gear. Dealer wants more than $1800 to replace the air distribution housing assembly which houses the directional gate with the stripped gear. What was your resolution?
