Here I go again about tires

OK, please don't kill me over this. But here goes again:

I have a 2008 GC Overland. Tires are 245/60R/18

I can't find a good (or any) AT's at all. Cooper has the Discoverer AT3 which is want a I want and have on my other GC (with) 16" wheels but not in the 245/60R/18. It seems no other tire company has any AT's in that size either.

So I have decided to go with the best (all weather) highway tire in the 245/60R/18 size and quite trying to modify the car to handle a different size tire.

I am thinking the Cooper Discoverer CST. They have a 65K wear warranty. BUT, my Cooper store says many are not getting over 20K out of these tires? Anyone have any history with the Cooper CST, or any other good highway (all weather) tire. Thanks in advance. CK

Any other suggestions.

I don't go off road much, but I do have 26" of snow in my drive right now and 6 to 8 more coming tonight.

They make the NT421Q in that size.

I just had Cooper Discover H/T+ in 255/60R18 installed only a few hundred miles so far but I'm very happy with them, very good performance even with all the snow in the area but I'm sure Quadra-Drive II has a factor in that.

Bogie, Thanks for the reply. Do you have any clearance issues? Most say anything over 245 will rub the upper bolt?

Have you checked the clearance? If it can be done, I'd love to use a 255/60R/18

I realized I was incorrect about the tires as I went to a 255/55R18

The 255/55R18 is the same OD as the 235/65R17's (29.0") that were stock on my 05 so I'm nowhere near the upper ball joint bolt.

I have the same rim size. I am looking at the Firestone Destination LE2's and the Continental LX20's. Right now, I lean toward the Firestone due to the higher speed rating and the likelihood that I will remove the top-speed limiter.

I ran Coopers on a vehicle once, and never will again. They were okay, but they are definitely a "budget tire" with "last generation" compound and tread design. At least, that is my experience from the sports car side of things.
