Crackling noise when braking/turning ?

Hi I have over 4000 km on this car and now when I speed more than 60 km/h and then start braking, I get a cracking noise in between the two front seats. Somewhere under the middle storage compartment. Also happens when I try turning too. Something sounds like it needs tightening with screws, but I can't pinpoint the source of this crackling sound. Maybe seats or maybe middle storage ! does anyone know what is the cause and how to fix this ? Thank you.

Exhaust heat shields maybe?

DCRSRT - what is that and where is it located ? The crackling sounds like it's inside the car.

If your sure its in the car then I can only guess that perhaps a wire is earthing out somewhere, OR, some piece of trim has come undone.

the heat shields are under the car. The sit above the exhaust system between the exhaust and the underbody of the car. Stops heat transferring into the cabin. They are made of very light aluminium and bend easy or come loose. If your not sure what to look for just ask any local mechanic to check it out.

DCRSRT - aha and how can I check for wore or piece of trim, under the seat ? or can I check under storage compartment ? yeah I will ask a mechanic in the local garage, maybe he will know. Nobody else heard of this before ?

the only way to find what MAY be making a noise under/in the console is to remove it bit by bit till you find something wrong.......... not recommended if your not comfortable with tools and pulling apart a $50k+ car lol.

DCRSRT - yeh I will not risk it, I will get the garage to check it better

I have something similar but not very severe and sounds more like squeaking, didn't really pay much attention to it.

Just checked it today, it's more like a creaking sound from under the seat or something. Have you found out what's causing yours ?

Under which seat?

The battery is under the passenger seat...sure it's not maybe a loose battery connection or battery cable arcing? That would be a very bad thing. Something to check....

It comes from my right, so basically the right of my driver seat. Sounds like it comes from the seat (far right side) or the middle storage compartment. Not sure.
