Film Tinting windows, anything I should look out for ?

I am planning to darken my windows and thinking of using 3M film for tinting, but don't know what's the best out there.

Does it matter what brand I use ? Anything I should look for (specifications that affect longevity, type of material etc ) ?

Huper Optik & 3M, the best ones available in our region i think. Go as dark as your local laws allow.

Must do a clear/transparent one on the windshield & rear glass to block heat; or tint if the law allows it.

My tip, don't so it yourself unless you're experienced in doing it.
Every self tint job I have seen is a disaster.

Absofreakinlutely!!!

Been there, done that, regretted it.

It is really difficult to get it cut correctly, but after that is when the real
fun starts where too hot/too cold, wrong techniques, etc. can make your
really nice vehicle look like a piece of crap.

I third this!!!

I have approximately a 3 foot x 1.5 foot basement window I attempted to do myself. Pretty easy right since it is a rectangle? Hell no! I used up the entire roll in a few attempts and it never got done. Reading the directions on how to do it, and having a lot of tips/tricks/experience are completely different.

I just went to a place in wheeling wv and got mine done 5% all windows and 5% 6" front strip. I paid 250.00 and couldn't ask for a better tint job.

Thank you for your responses guys. Local laws here allow for 30% on all sides EXCEPT the front pane.

Yea it surprised me the change it made in looks I will take some pics later when I get Black Betty cleaned up. And about the law I think Ohio is 35% on the front and any on the back. But I had a city cop give some pretty good compliments the other day. Thought for sure he was going to write me lol.

So you had your windows painted black? The measurement is the amount of light transmittance.

I put a layer of 2.5% all the way around and 3 years later at the shop I got bored and put a tint meter on the front windows in three different spots and each time it read 0 to 1 %. And yes I understand what the number on the tint means.
