Brake Dust

Do these Brembos produce a lot of brake dust? I just cleaned the wheels a few days ago and they are pretty dirty again. I have no squealing or anything going on. The pads look ok too.

Thanks

Re: Brake Dust

Major brake dust, but optimal braking power. It's something you have to live with if you want to stick with the brembos. Otherwise you can change the pads themselves for another brand that doesn't produce that much brake dust.

You can check some other topics around here discussing the best way to clean chrome wheels, which involves brake dust as well. Feel free to browse through them and check what products others use to get their wheels clean !!

Good luck.

**EDIT**

To make your life easier, these two threads discuss brake pads, brake dust, and cleaning products.

Thanks DarkHue. I still have the stock wheels on it and I'll probably be sticking with the Brembo setup. I was wondering if that's why most guys on here were running black FR wheels??

Yeah you can get rid of brake dust appearance by replacing the chrome wheels to a rather darker black set such as the FR wheels. In this way, brake dust doesn't give the same appearance you would get with chrome, requiring you to clean your wheels less often while maintaining a better appearance (if you like the FR wheels that is). Maybe someone with FR wheels can give you a more appropriate response to why they replaced stock wheels.

Do you have the spider monkey rims ( Split 5 Spoke) or the regular goliath (5 Spoke) chrome wheels ? Also, is it chrome, satin carbon or black vapor chrome ? Black vapor chrome has the least effect of brake dust, where the shininess is reduced to a more matte color. Regular chrome and satin carbon will show a rather obvious black coat on top of them.

Not sure what wheels I have. I believe they are the spider monkey satin carbon (I'll attach a pic). I like the FR wheels and was thinking about going with the silver ones but I might be second guessing that choice now because of major brake dust.

Yep those are Satin Carbon Split 5 Spoke wheels, also known as Spider Monkey (beautiful ride btw :D ). Do as you please, but wait for more replies from other guys so that you can have a broader number of options to go with.

Thanks! I'm definitely open to other options.
