Getting rid of it...'14 JGC

I've had it.

Purchased my '14 JGC Limited, 4x4 in late October and am now at 7k miles. In those 7k miles, I've been to the dealer 7 times for a litany of electrical issues. Jeep opened a case with the Enhanced Customer Care Center...that experience was anything but enhanced. Continual requests to delay or have a pointless meeting which nothing came from. I maintain that the long-term ownership costs from a '14 JGC will be significantly higher than any other vehicle.

I give HUGE credit to the Dealer. They have been extremely supportive (Dick Poe Jeep, El Paso) and even gone as far to offer to purchase it back separate of Jeep/Chrysler. At least the dealer understands the concept of Customer Service. Corporate Chrysler/Jeep should take a lesson from them!

While I am taking a loss on the vehicle, I will happily do it to be rid of this steaming pile of junk.

Best of luck to those wishing to hang on to their vehicle. Seriously, best of luck! You'll need it.

Adios!

Can you expound on your issues?

We are on the same boat with problems with my 14 Overland. Hard downshifting and upshifting with ECO on and off. Very hard shifting in sport mode. At least 5 visits to dealer to fix this issiue with no results. I finally said enough and trade the jeep last night for 2014 Acura TL SH AWD. Transmission shifts nice and smooth with lots of power to spare. CHrysler needs to step up to fix all the problems with new Jeeps GC.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I've had plenty, but luckily they've all been minor. Totally get where you're coming from.

Sorry to hear that. Always shocked when I hear this kinda stuff. I've had three GCs ('97, '11) and now a 2014 and they've all been solid as a rock.

I'm at the same point with my 14 JGC. I have an appointment in the morning to trade it in on a New Summit. The dealer is giving me what I owe on it. I'm at a year and 20K miles and it's not any better than it was the first month of ownership. I'm just not sure I'm going to do it for fear of going through this all again with a more expensive GC. I might wait another couple of days and trade it elsewhere.

I hear you as ours has had a litany of issues from the steering wheel vibration to the hard shifting to bad rattle from the rear cargo area. It's a shame because it's a nice looking vehicle.

  • Auto-Climate Control is not automatic. At all. Worst system I've ever used. My Dodge Rental cars auto system was better.
  • Heated Seats turning on or off at their own whim.
  • SD Card picking & choosing what tracks to play without shuffle turned on.
  • Media to Radio was always FM and not SXM, which was the last channel listened to.
  • Power Lift-gate starting to close, then decides not to even with nothing loaded in the rear.
  • Rear-View camera issues.
  • Dimming mirrors not dimming.
  • uConnect Registration again, and again, and again, and again....
  • GPS Navigation position would show me driving south into Mexico when heading East on I-10 (inaccurate).
  • GPS system crashes while calculating directions to destination, system re-start.
  • Instrument Cluster flashing randomly after locking vehicle from outside.
  • Outside temp sensor entirely inaccurate (shows 50 when weather service reports 35).
All electrical. And not one item of it covered after the 3/36 warranty ends. Becomes owner expense. I am not touching that!

That's like saying the whale at the bar is a great screw. It's still whaling no matter how you slice it!

My 1993 JGC was balls reliable! Great vehicle. Traded in after 10 years and 186k miles.

Try that in a new JGC without substantial out-of-pocket expenses!!

I got 217K on my 2002 GC.

I expect the same on my 2014.

I bought the lifetime warranty online. Pretty cheap insurance.

So far it's gone smooth for 9K. Only dealer visits have been 2 transmission flashes. Finally fixed. It was tolerable after first flash but a whole new animal after the recent flash.

Dang I'm sorry to hear this.

My 2014 SRT has had almost 8,000 trouble free miles...only been to the dealer for oil changes and that N58 cluster recall. I bought the Maximum Care warranty and if I do have any problems I'll let them deal with it!
