Why not more WK2's in Canada?

Perhaps because Chrysler has gone insane with WK's prices. A Summit with the Ecodiesel can be purchased for $70,734 plus taxes! I've configured a Mercedes ML350 Bluetec with all options but the performance package and the quote was $71,000 plus taxes! Perhaps in the US Jeep is not yet a luxury brand but in Canada they definitely are at least price wise.

Yup cars cost a lot more up here which is ridiculous!

I see a lot of 2011-13 WK2s in my neck of the woods. I'm starting to see some 2014s. The majority of those I see are either Laredos or Limiteds. I've rarely seen Overlands or Summits.

Add the dvd option and it's now $71,685cad:D
Same in US in 57,680.

From what I have read over the years, much easier to pay below invoice in the US, I was laughed at when I tried here.

If you look at the US vs Can sales figures on the WK2

Jeep Grand Cherokee Sales Figures - GOOD CAR BAD CAR

Canadian dealers sell about 6 -8 % of the volume that they do in the states. I think they havta sell 'em for more to make up for the lack of volume (compared to the U.S)

May of 2013 I picked up my '12 Overland for $43k (demo model with 1,200 kms), sticker was $ 55k. I'd suggest waiting until Dec-Mar after the next model year comes out.

There are a number of factors that weigh into the cost difference for Canadian folks buying vehicles that unfortunately are what they are, including cost to import, taxes, exchange rate, etc.

So when we want to trade our vehicles in, we should go private sell them in Canada.

Jeeps are definately overpriced by Chrysler Canada more so than other manufacturers. My 2011 Overland was $55K and now a similar 2014 is $65K. Why such an increase in 3 years?

Re: Why not more WK2's in Canada?

Bought our 12 Overland used in USA Jan. 13 due to not being able to find one on short notice in Canada with tow and 5.7. Needed for towing 27' Airstream. Prices are/were too high in Canada, +/- 20% more, plus you have to pay for some colour choices!

Perhaps if customers country wide protest by not buy from of the car manufactures until prices are more in line with state side prices, we could get lower prices. Not to mention the no warranty threat if you buy out of country. Should ask for a refund for the amount they factor in per unit for repairs! LOL

By the way, would not have bought a Jeep, if not for towing. Enjoy it a lot, even if the gas mpg is poor, towing from home to Tucson 10.6 us/g, ~25L/100k? non towing about 15-17 mpg us ~15L/100km

Gm was/is overpriced. For 2012 Corvettes 25% more than US prices.

We get less warranty also, 5/100 compared to 5/160 the states have

Okay we will trade you WK2s for hot young babes from Montreal, unlimited supplies of smoked meat from Schwartz's and pit top passes for the F1 race in Montreal for next 10 years.
