Fuel Refill Record

I set a small personal record last night with a fuel refill of 87.88l to the first cut off.

Has anyone done better?

(and it was $141.40 - ouch!)

Please don't start me on fuel prices.

Up here (Wide Bay area Qld.) diesel has been stuck on 162.9 cents
per litre for many, many long months. An odd servo in the area has
it for 159.9 or 161.9, but.... This has been the case for what seems 6 months or more now. A couple of servos have even been dearer during
that period.

Maybe when I finally get away for that year or two or three, I need to
go south. Might be a cheaper trip than I thought.

$153.01 was my best, but I was sucking the fumes from the bottom of the tank to make it, but the fuel was also $1.71 cpl. I am sure that the people who live in the more remote places will have a higher number, as fuel can get costly in the boonies.

Re: Fuel Refill Record

We've done a fair bit of towing with ours now, and its pretty frugal compared to past Patrols which have had 165l of fuel on board - so I've been used to travelling a fair way between stops.
On our first trip with the van back in March 2012 we filled up in Cooma with 88.72 @ $160.9. DTE readout had given up, and I was pretty stressed.
I still hit mid 80's with the fills from time to time but I've learned to pay a bit closer attention to the fuel gauge.

Mine had too. The orange petrol bowser symbol was gone as well and just two words remained - "Low Fuel".

Re: Fuel Refill Record

The last I saw of the DTE showed 54km to empty as we passed a marker that said Cooma 55km. It would have been some consolation to have it count down but it didn't coperate. I had "Low Fuel" as well.
We'd come from Bendigo up through Albury then over Khancoban - not many fuel options that way and Adaminaby was closed. The drive was brilliant until it said "bong"!
Spurred me to do some research on where the fuel filters were and how to bleed the system.
Well there are two under the vehicle near the fuel tank - buggers to get to on the side of the road (i now carry two replacements down beside the spare tyre). No bleed procedure. Best I can find is to turn the ignition to "on" for 30 seconds after changing the filters to prime the system.
I don't think it would be a good idea to run this vehicle out of fuel.

Got over 90L in mine from a Shell servo in Cleveland renowned for having dodgy pumps!! Had to check under the car for leaks!!

Not Bad,
Drove from Lithgow to Hay towing a Coromal 635 and required only 93 litres of diesel.
WOOPS a tank holds 93 litres.
Started after fill up went about 5 meters then a funny noise from the area of the fuel then everything was ok.
Must have been pretty empty.

I squeezed in 94.2 litres once.... tanks supposed to have 93 litres of usable fuel... so it seems to be about right. A few weeks ago I ran right out, no further warnings after the low fuel chime.... thought it might have whinged a little more, but no, it just coasted to a gentle stop......

Yours is a hemi petrol…..
I'd be interested in the sequence of events after this if it was a CRD.
