fuel tank skid
any good tips on changing the fuel tank skid plate on a 2001 grand. like any way to tie up the tank so you dont have to drop/disconect the tank. I will be pulling one at the JY and the rplacing the one on mine Thanks

It's hard to get the bolts out but the rest of it's easy. It has to come down as a unit and you will be glad it does.
Put a jack under it, remove the bolts that hold the assy to the unibody. Let it down, disconnect the hoses (quick connects, have tools for them), pull it out and it's a walk in the park to put your tank in the new skid. I've done this 2x now and have to do it to a third WJ soon. I hate playing with gas so the tank is as close to empty as possible. Get a skid from an 04 so it's the heavy duty one. You will need a friend to help but it's worth it.
