Should my 2012 w/ 23k on it need rotors??

Exactly as the title states my 2012 limited is shuddering pretty bad when braking. Seems too soon to need rotor work done already?? Brakes are only covered for 12k miles right? I'm getting it looked at tomorrow at an independent shop while it's in for inspection. If they say I need rotors jeep won't cover it right? Thanks
Jon

Really hard to say without knowing if you use them heavily, tow much, or someone simply overtorqued your wheel lugs...

You could ask your dealer about coverage if the shop indicates some sort of defect other than wear or overtorque.

I had to have rotors cut on an '03 TrailBlazer at less than 12,000. They were still good when I traded it with 47,000 miles.

After I moved to Delaware I had a dealer tell me they needed to be cut because there was some rust on them. I said no.

I wouldn't be shocked.. my 2014 has 4700 miles on it and drives like its falling apart. Was going to trade it in already but some dick in a parking lot rubbed the front end and i have to get the paint fixed first :( Last chrysler product i will own, can't wait for it to be gone

My or my wife's driving style has not changed and the last couple cars/trucks(toyotas, Hondas, nissans) we owned had 70k on them before even needing pads let alone rotors.... I torque my lugs to spec but it has been inspected so others have removed the wheels before other than me wo who knows about that as far as proper torque...I hope this isn't an indication of how parts will last on my first Chrysler product! I will see what the shop says tomorrow.

naw.. i wouldn't sweat it, probably just a fluke, my 98 dakota went 70k miles without me even changing a light bulb. most dependable car i ever owned, that was 70k miles over 15 years too.. if rotors were dying that fast alot more people would be speaking up.

jeep wont cover rotors/brakes/tires etc (unless new or fault somehow) any wear n tear item is not covered normally.... My 2011 needed new tires when we traded it in.. 21k miles!

I cant see it being the rotors, but hey.. you never know

If rotors, that might be pricey enough to get a second opinion before replacing/resurfacing and discovering something else is causing it.

I doubt you could make it stick, but the mileage seems much too low for rotor issues.

If it is shuddering when braking, the rotors are probably warped. Take them to a auto parts store and get them machined assuming they are in the allowed thickness. It will cost you $10 per rotor.
